31-jan-2013 … Fish market in the capital city of Panjim remained open on Thursday morning after the fish vendors from the Panjim fish market had remained close for the past two days extending their support to the ongoing strike by the fishing trawler owners over the hike in the diesel prices done by the central government in the state remained closed today

It may be noted that fish markets in the cities like Panaji, Margao, Vasco,  Mapusa  and others had gone on strike from Tuesday due to which there was no trade in the markets as with fish vendors not turning up to sell fish in the market in support of the All Goa Fishermen’s Federation who had began agitation since Saturday demanding that the hike in the diesel prices by the central government be rolled back.

But due to two days closure of fish market, less crowd was noticed at the city fish market on Thursday

Meanwhile chief minister Manohar Parrikar also gave his views over the central governments decision of raising a hike in diesel prices
