SYMPOSIUM ON INFANT AND YOUNG CHILD FEEDING PRACTICES

Panaji: August 3, 2016 …. Shri Shri Siddharth Kuncolienkar, MLA Panaji, recently inaugurated the State level Symposium on correct norms of Infant and young child feeding practices IMS Act at Nalanda Hall EDC House at Panaji.

The program was organized by Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit, Food and Nutrition Board member of Women and Child Development, Government of India, in coordination with State Government Agencies.

The theme of this year’s celebration is Breast feeding- A key for sustainable Development.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Kuncolienkar highlighted the importance of symposiums and said such symposiums will help the public to know much about correct norms of Infant and young child feeding practices.

Earlier Mrs Sangita Rane Officer in-charge of Food and Nutrition Board welcomed the guests and delegates and spoke about the importance of celebration. Speaking further she said that maximum awareness among the masses on breast feeding will help to curtail the Infant mortality rate.

Mrs Varsha Naik, Assistant Professor Goa college of Home Science presented talk on Disseminating correct norms on Infant and young child feeding practices, IMS Act. Dr Lourrine D’sa, consultant and lecturer Goa Medical College delivered talk on Breast feeding, A Key for sustainable development.

 A mini exhibition on the  theme “complementary food and Breast feeding” was displayed on the occasion.

Ms. Vaibhavi Rane compered the function and  Mrs Nita Rane proposed vote of thanks.
