February 6, 2016 …. Dr. Geeta Nagvekar has been Awarded PHd Degree ( Dr of Philosophy) on the research tittled “ECOLOGY AND MOLECULAR ANALYSIS OF MARINE BACTERIA RESISITANT TO ARSENIC” by the Goa University. The Defgree was conferred on her by  Governor of Goa and Chancellor of the University,  Dr Mrs..Mrudula Sinha,at the convocation ceremony held at Dr Shama Prasad Mukherjee stadium at Goa University.

 She has been selected recently in  group “A”  Gazatted Junior Scale Officer in Govt. of Goa. The exam held recently where she has excelled in the same exam by securing highest marks and standing first in the merit list.

 Dr. Nagvekar completed secondary Education at New Goa High School, Mapusa,Higher Secondary Education in Science at St. Xavier higher Secondary Mapusa, Bsc in marine science at St Xaviers College ,Mapusa, Msc in Marine Science at Goa University, Phd in Marine science at NIO Donapaula.

 She has  also excelled in law degree at VVM Salgaonkar Collge of law, Masters in Law Specialized in intellectual property right securing first Class

Panaji: February 3,2016 … The Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has said that education should just not be within the four walls of schools but should be encouraged to learn from our surrounding nature and far beyond the books. The  surrounding world has the scope  to learn a lot, he added.

Shri Parsekar was speaking as Chief Guest at Regional Recognition Award Ceremony organized by CPR Environmental Education Center Chennai in collaboration with Goa State Council for Science and Technology at Goa Science Center, Miramar, today.

Shri Parsekar further said that awareness on environmental issues among students is the need of the hour and those working in these areas for this sake are doing a commendable job. Conservation of environment is must for our future generation. Proper education in the minds of this young generation about preservation of water and biodiversity is essential for the survival of human race. He congratulated the recipients of Regional Recognition Awards.   

The Chief Scientist of Goa State Council for Science and Technology in his address remarked that the School students from rural areas have done extremely well in their performance in their projects on Water and Biodiversity. This idea will help to develop awareness among the students

Wipro Earthian 2015 programme involves innovative project submissions on sustainability of water and biodiversity by group of students guided by a teacher, through the expertise of Dr. Joseph De Souza and Bolmax Pereira. It was created in promoting environmental thinking among the school going children through personal interaction.

The Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar released three resource books  authored by Dr. Joseph D’Souza  the Chief Scientist of Goa State Council of Science and Technology. The names of the books were  Overview of Remote Sensing, GIS and GPS;  Manual for mapping and Surveying and Concepts of Integrated Coastal Zone management.

In Wipro Earthian 2015,   46 projects were qualified for consideration from the participating schools from Goa out of which  9 projects were short listed as Regional Winners-2015. Those schools are Harmal Panchakroshi Higher Secondary School Harmal, Poira High School Poira,  Bardez,  Mahalaxmi High School Kudne, Hedgewar High School Bambolim St;  St.Cruz High School St.Cruz Tiswadi, Our Lady of Perpetual High School Succor Bardez. The three other Schools from Karwar District of Karnataka are  New English High School, Hindu High School and  Government High School Karwar were selected for Regional Recognition Award and were awarded at the hands of Chief Minister Shri Parsekar.

Poira High School Poira from North Goa District was selected for the National Winners  of Earthian 2015 and will receive award of  Rs. one lakh for its project from the 1200 national entries at a national programme at new Delhi on February 5,2016.

The nine participating teachers were awarded Regional Recognition Certificates and Memento for their dedication and excellence.

Dr. Joseph DeSouza was also conferred Environment Excellence Award at the hands of Chief Minister Shri Parsekar.

Dr. R. Sudhakar, Director, of CPREEC honoured the Chief Minister Shri Parsekar by presenting him citation and shawl on this occasion. 

Dr.Balaji Coordinator Goa Science Centre, Staff of CPREEC, Students of various Schools, Teachers of and others attended the programme.

Panaji:  February 3, 2016 …. Governor of Goa, Dr(Smt) Mridula Sinha has said that women have attained to great height in the once male dominated society in almost every sector of the society.  Women have the talent in them, which needs to be tapped and guided in the right direction, she added.

 Speaking at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Mahila Mandal Margao at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, yesterday, Dr. Sinha asserted that women perform different roles  according to situation that needs to be appreciated. Dr. Sinha appealed to all such institutions to supplement the government efforts to ameliorate the sufferings of the weaker and the downtrodden sections.

 Complimenting the Mahila Mandal Margao for completing 75 years of its existence including the members associated with it, the Governor said to keep an organisation vibrant with activities especially for the welfare of the people is of great significance.  Example set by this institution is not only commendable but needs to be followed by institutions across the State, she remarked.

 Shri Dayanand Mandrekar, Minister for Art & Culture speaking on the occasion urged the Mandal undertaking various activities to market their products by creating the required advertisement of the same in all available means.

 Complimenting the Institution for completing 75 years of its formation, Shri Mandrekar said the show of strength of women by this Mandal will go a long way to set an example for others to follow.

 The founding members and past Presidents of the Institution were also presented a token of appreciation at the hands of the Dr. Sinha. Platinum Jubilee Souvenir was also released at the hands of the Governor on the occasion.

 Shri Mandrekar and Shri Naik also presented token of appreciation to the staff and well-wishers of the Institution.

          All the Fair Price Shops owners are informed that the quota lifting should start with immediate effect and they should lift at least 50% of their released quota on or before February 10, 2016 and balance quota shall be lifted on or before February 19, 2016 strictly and no extension would be granted for lifting. The ration cardholders are free to take their entitlements for March 2016 along with the quota for the month of February 2016 from respective Fair Price Shops as specified above from February 1, 2016 onwards.

          The Fair Price Shops are required to display the details of stocks as well as sample quality of grains for consumer’s information and all cardholders/Consumers are requested to give their complaints, if any to the respective Jt. The applicants who had filed their application for the post of Pharmacist, Assistant Chemist (Drugs) and Laboratory Attendant in the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, Bambolim are informed that the written examination for above posts has been scheduled on February 06, 2016 at 10:00 am, 11:30 am and 2:30 pm respectively at the Goa College of Pharmacy, Panaji Goa.
