In a major drive against illegal encroachments, the Mormugao Municipal Council has issued 262 notices across its jurisdiction. Acting on directives from the Bombay High Court in PIL SUO MOTO No. 3 of 2024, the Council initiated inspections and found multiple unauthorized structures abutting roads and public spaces. One such notice, dated April 15, was served to residents of Ward 20 near the Water Tank. Recipients have been asked to submit legal documents like survey plans and occupancy certificates within seven days. Chief Officer Siddhivinayak S. Naik warned that failure to comply will invite strict action under the Goa Municipalities Act.
