The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Department of State Tax, Government of Goa and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on training on technical cooperation in GST in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Minister for Transport Shri Mauvin Godinho at Mantralaya, Porvorim today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that general objective of signing the MoU is to extend the technical cooperation, capacity building, and research assistant in policy making. As a part of this MoU, ICAI will conduct regular capacity building program as per the requirement of the State’s tax department. The regular updation of knowledge will ensure that state tax office of the department are enhanced with the latest GST Development and will be in a better position to interpret the act and rules in its true sense thereby avoiding litigation on taxation. Congratulating ICAI for signing the agreement Chief Minister said the MoU will benefit the State in the long run.
CA.Aniket Talati, President ICAI stating that ICAI is the largest accounting body in the world. He informed that they hold Tax clinics in the entire country along with income tax department. In Goa, we have tax clinic in our branch where Tax Experts are available to address queries and provide guidance on income tax return filing to the common man he informed.
