Governor, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa on the festive occasion of Dussehra.
Governor in his message has said that Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashami. Dussehra is one of the most significant Hindu festivals that mark the end of Navratri. Dussehra is a celebration of the victory of good over evil The day is celebrated to commemorate the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and this day also celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura.
The Governor has further stated that the Dussehra festival inspires us to follow the path of Dharma (righteousness) and truth. It reminds us that good always triumphs over evil. This festival strengthens our national integration and reaffirms our abiding faith in the concept of unity in diversity
On this auspicious occasion, Let us take a pledge to rededicate ourselves to promote the virtues of love, mercy, patience and compassion in our society which is the essence of this festival.
May the celebrations of Dussehra, this year bring joy, prosperity and peace to the people of Goa.
