Goan Reporter:TWO-DAYS TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR CENSUS OFFICERS HELD

PANAJI, FEBRUARY 9, 2026:The Directorate of Census Operations, Goa and Directorate of Planning, Statistics, and Evaluations Goa, State Census Nodal Department conducted a two-days training programme for District, Charge and Additional Charge Level Census Officers. The programme was inaugurated by the Secretary, Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, at the Seminar Hall at the Secretariat Porvorim. The inaugural session was held in the presence of the Shri S.S. Gill, IAS, State Census Nodal Officer and Secretary (Planning), Ms. Cheshta Yadav, IAS, Secretary (Panchayat) and Director of Census Operations, Goa and the Collectors  and Principal Census Officers of all the 03 Districts of the State. During the session, emphasis was laid on the need for Charge-level officers to have a thorough understanding of census processes, effective use of digital tools, and clear clarity regarding their roles and responsibilities. They highlighted that comprehensive training and preparedness at the field level are crucial to ensure accurate data collection, high data quality and smooth conduct of census operations. The training programme focused on preparation of Census Phase-I, i.e., the House listing and Housing Census, which will be conducted in Goa from April 16 2026 to May 15, 2026. The programme aimed at strengthening District/Charge officers’ knowledge of Census process covering basic census concepts and definitions, and providing hands-on orientation on various census portals such as Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS), House Listing Block Creator web application (HLBC) and HLO mobile app developed for collecting data on 33 census questions by enumerator during Census Phase-I. The Self Enumeration portal, which enables individual households to complete and submit their census forms online, was also discussed during the training. Self-Enumeration in Goa will be available from April 01, 2026 to April 15, 2026.
