The Bharat Electricity Summit, an global platform to showcase innovations and discuss the future of India’s energy landscape, organized by Ministry of Power, Government of India is presently being held at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi wherein, Goa has achieved 3rd place in Power Distribution amongst all the DISCOMs of the country.
The Distributed Utilities Rating (DUR) for DISCOM for 2024-25 is a combination of various Ratings introduced by Ministry of Power such as the Annual Integrated Ratings, Consumer Service Ratings for DISCOMs along with certain other parameters and decides the performance of a particular DISCOM across the country.
Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Sudin Dhavalikar was the part of Power Ministerial Meet held along with Bharat Electricity Summit and chaired by Shri. Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of Power. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Dhavalikar showcased Goa’s achievements in attaining one of the lowest AT&C losses in India and also achieving the set target of converting 50% of the HT overhead lines to underground cabling. Shri. Dhavalikar mentioned in his talk that the State’s next target was to bring about complete automation in State’s Power Network by introducing SCADA and Substation Automation Systems, etc. He also mentioned that the State would work towards extracting potential Renewable Energy sources in Goa and meeting targets.
Shri. Dhavalikar expressed happiness after the State achieving the 3rd rank across the country and attributed it to planned and structured working of the Electricity Department. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, the Electricity Department has successfully implemented number of major projects related to development of infrastructure and modernization of its Power Network, has significantly improved the happiness index of consumers through improvement of Power quality, reliability and customer service. He congratulated the entire team of Electricity Department for this achievement. He said that the Department will attain higher heights in time to come.
Shri. Dhavalikar was also a key note speaker for the event “Unified Power for a New India – aligning Centre State Strategies for Power transition and acceleration” held along with Bharat Electricity Summit. During the discussion, Shri. Dhavalkar spoke about States role in achieving Energy transition for the country and the challenges faced by small States in adapting to Renewable Energy sources and possible ways to overcome these challenges. Shri. Dhavalikar also held meetings with several other Central Government officials to discuss about other issues related to State in presence of Minister of State for Power, Shri Shripad Naik and other officials of Electricity Department.
