Governor P Ashok Gajapathi Raju has conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to all the people of Goa on the historic occasion of Goa Revolution Day.

In his message, the Governor said, “18th June holds a special place in the history of Goa’s freedom struggle. Goa Revolution Day has great significance for the people of Goa as it was on this day in 1946, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia kindled a flame of freedom that could not be extinguished until Goa attained liberation. His inspiring presence at Lohia Maidan, Margao, gave the freedom movement a new momentum and a decisive direction, opening a glorious final chapter in the history of Goa’s struggle for freedom”.

The State has emerged as a vibrant centre of education, culture, tourism and economy development while preserving its unique heritage and identity. The achievements stand as a fitting tribute to the vision, courage and sacrifices of those who fought for Goa’s freedom”.

“On this solemn and historic occasion, let us all bow our heads in reverence to the memory of the martyrs, freedom fighters and statesmen  whose sacrifices and vision paved the way for Goa’s liberation, and reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of freedom, peace, harmony and inclusive development.
