Goan Reporter:GPSC URGES TO VERIFY FACTS BEFORE PUBLISHING

36

The GPSC has urged to verify facts before publishing any news concerning the Commission, examination centres, Colleges, or Institutions associated with Commission activities.

GPSC has pointed that some local newspapers have published reports concerning the Commission without verifying the factual position from the Commission.

They have informed that at the recent CBRT conducted for the post of JSO, certain candidates arrived at the examination centre after the stipulated reporting time and, in accordance with the instructions issued by the Commission, were not permitted to enter the examination campus. This decision was taken solely by the Goa Public Service Commission as part of the prescribed examination protocol.

The news reports published in certain newspapers that the management of Agnel Institute of Engineering and Management, Assagao Goa, had not allowed the candidates to appear for the GPSC examination is factually incorrect and thereby created a misleading impression regarding the institution concerned.

Further, they also informed that the Goa Public Service Commission enjoys cordial and healthy relations with educational institutions across the State, which extend valuable support by providing infrastructure and other facilities required for conducting Computer Based Recruitment Tests and other examinations. Publication of unverified reports of this nature adversely affect the reputation of such institutions and undermine the cooperative relationship maintained by the Commission with them.

They have requested that newspapers may be advised not to use the official logo/emblem of the Goa Public Service Commission in their reports without proper authorization.

GPSC desires to ensure accurate dissemination of information and prevent the publication of misleading reports that may adversely affect the image of educational institutions and the Commission.
