Directorate of Art and Culture has implemented the ‘Kala Gaurav Puraskar’ scheme under which renowned personalities who have excelled and given extraordinary contribution in their respective field of Art and Culture are honored by the Government.
Under the said scheme the artist who have attained the age of 60 years and have contributed in the field of music/ dance, drama/tiatr, folk art, creative photography/painting, craft, sculpture, bhajan/kirtan, literature, film are felicitated by presenting this prestigious award.
Every year, total twenty personalities from the field of Art and Culture are selected for the award. This year also the committee has finalised to felicitate 20 deserving artists. The awardees shall be honored with a shawl, shrifal, memento, a certificate of appreciation and a financial purse of Rs.25,000/- per awardee.
The personalities to be awarded with Kala Gaurav Puraskar are Shri. Anil Dharmu Phal Desai, Canacona, Dr. Venkatesh Hegde, Salcete, Shri. Narayan Gopi Govenkar, Bicholim, Shri. Premnath Suman Dhargalkar, Pernem and Shri. Umesh D. Naik, Ponda in the field of drama. Smt. Kavita Ashok Borker and Smt. Pushpa Pramod Gaitonde, Salcete in the field of literature.
Shri. Jose Francisco Pereira, Salcete, Mrs. Luisinha Tomacinha Jacinta Fernandes alias Luiza Fernandes, Quepem and Shri. Lourencinho Gracias, Salcete in the field of Tiatr. Similarly, Shri. Sahadev Laxman Parab, Pernem, Shri. Venkatesh alias Pradip Simepurushkar, Bardez and Mrs.Kirtimalini Anant Chari, Bicholim in the field of bhajan. Shri. Hemant Kamlakar Naik, Salcete and Shri. DayanandManerikar, Tiswadi in the field of music.
Smt. Pramila Ramesh Panjikar, Bardez and Shri. Satu Dharma Majik, Sattari in the field of folk art. Shri. Premanand Raghunath Chari, Canacona and Smt. Shankala Shankar Chari, Tiswadi in the field of craft. Smt. Shobha Ravindra Dhamaskar, Salcete in the field dance.
The Kala Gaurav Puraskar will be presented to the awardees at a special function and the date will be declared by the Department shortly.
