Bringing together technology, innovation and expertise from across the sugar sector, Goa will host the 84th Annual Convention of the Sugar Technologists’ Association of India (STAI) and International Sugar Expo 2026 from 18th to 20th August 2026 at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa. The three-day gathering will bring together sugar technologists, industry leaders, researchers, equipment manufacturers and other stakeholders from India and abroad.

Three days, one platform for the future of sugar technology, the programme will begin on 18th August with the International Sugar Expo 2026, featuring more than 80 exhibitors including equipment manufacturers, engineering companies, OEMs, automation and instrumentation specialists, chemical manufacturers, agri-tech companies and technology solution providers. The Expo will provide an opportunity to showcase and explore the latest technologies, products and solutions for the sugar industry.

From farm to factory and technology to sustainability, the Convention will feature expert lectures, technical sessions, panel discussions and presentations covering sugarcane agriculture, factory engineering and processing, co-products, bioenergy, artificial intelligence, sustainability and emerging technologies. The programme will also include the S.N. Gundurao Memorial Lecture, Mangal Singh Memorial Lecture, a panel discussion on compressed biogas and technical paper presentations, with specialised sessions focused on agriculture and factory operations.

Creating space for knowledge exchange and industry collaboration, the three-day programme will provide opportunities for professionals, researchers, technologists and industry representatives to share expertise, discuss emerging developments and explore technology-driven solutions for the sector. The Convention and Expo will conclude on 20th August following the scheduled technical sessions and paper presentations.

The inaugural programme on 19th August will be attended by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant as Chief Guest, along with Minister for Sugar Industry & Cane Development Department Shri Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary; Chairman, MRN Group and Former Industries Minister, Government of Karnataka Shri. Murugesh Nirani; President, The Sugar Technologists Association of India Shri Sanjay Awasthi; Director, Jawahar SSK and Former Textile Minister, Government of Maharashtra Shri Prakash Awade; Director General, Vasantdada Sugar Institute Shri. Sambhaji Kadu Patil; ED & CEO, DCM Shriram Ltd. Shri. R.L. Tamak; President, The Deccan Sugar Technologists Association of India Shri. Sohan Shirgaokar; President, The South Indian Sugarcane and Sugar Technologists Association Shri R.V. Kumbhar; and Former Member of Parliament, South Goa Shri Narendra Sawaiker.
