CONSUMERS SHOULD BE PROVIDED QUALITY SERVICES: CS

Panaji, April 16, 2017  … The Chief Secretary Shri Dharmendra Sharma has said that the consumer has to be provided with good services in terms of standard and quality of the product.

            Shri Sharma who presided over  the meeting of State Level Committee on  standardization and quality system  called by Bureau of Indian  Standards Western   Regional Office, Mumbai in Association with Department of Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs in the Secretariat today.

            Shri  Sharma speaking further said that the goods manufactured and purchased should be with standard as approved by the Bureau of Indian Standard and the need of the hour is to sensitize  and bring awareness among the people. While the laws enacted  to arrest fake  production  has to be strictly  enforced he added.

            Shri Roland  Martins, Coordinator GOA CAN during the interaction suggested  to conduct awareness programme for the  masses and observation of World Standard Day on October 14 every year will also help to serve the purpose he reiterated.

            The meeting also discussed the issues of quality checking, certification of production, enforcement laws and training  for the volunteers of various NGO, other stakeholders and measures to be  undertaken for effective awareness among the people.

            Shri Swapnil Naik, Collector South Goa, Shri Mahesh Khorjuvekar, Director Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Shri Ashok Menon, Director of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Shri B.R.  Singh, Secretary Civil Supplies, Shri Levinson Martin, Director  of the Department of Science and Technology, Shri B.V. S. N Rao, D.D.G BIS Western  Regeo, Shri Sanjay Vij ScE Head, MDBO-II, HODs of various other Departments and other attend the meeting.
