This year the theme for the worlds aids day has been “getting to zero” which is build on last years successful worlds aids day theme “light for rights”
In goa the total number of cases detected since 187 upto October 2015 has been to a total of 15,967 while the majority of cases reported in the four coastal talukas in goa stands as salcete 14.0%, mormugao at 12.5% in south goa district and in tiswaddi 4.7% and bardez 15.4% in north goa district
Out of 449 cases reported in goa during this the year in 2014 33.8% belong to other states / foreigners / not specified where as 93.9 % of the cases detected in goa during 2014 belonged to the age group of 15-49 years
Project Director of goa state aids control society dr jose dsa said that there was a need to create awareness so that a change could be brought in our lifestyle, attitude to know more about the diseases of aids
