Carmel Boys Curtorim defeated Rebello Pandal Maina 1-0 in the finals of the 18th Rebello Pandal football tournament, held at St. Rita Church ground, Maina Curtorim, on Sunday. The tournament was organised under the leadership of Angelius Rebello and team. The only goal of the match came in the 56th minute through Alland of Carmel Boys, while Cyril of Rebello Pandal Maina missed a crucial scoring opportunity in the 60th minute. Individual awards were presented to Dylan (Best Goalkeeper – Carmel Boys), Allywn (Best Half – Rebello Pandal Maina), Delmon (Best Defender – Carmel Boys), Raymond (Best Half – Dragon FC), Alland (First Scorer – Carmel Boys), Cyril (Best Player – Rebello Pandal Maina), Allywn Faria (Man of the Match – Rebello Pandal Maina), St. Rita Boys (Best Disciplined Team), and Cain of Michon Warriors (Upcoming Player of the Tournament). Dragon FC and Gantamorod FC were the semi-finalists. Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lourenco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Fr. Dominic Vaz, Parish Priest of St. Rita Church Maina, international footballer Mahesh Gawali, Savio Fernandes, Jacob Athaide, Conceicao Dias, Angelius Rebello, and other dignitaries and club officials.
