Goan Reporter: District Magistrate, South Goa Bans Use Of Drones

District Magistrate, South Goa has prohibited the operation, flying or use of drones or any Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVS), regardless of size or category within the entire jurisdiction of South Goa District with immediate effect.

The above order shall not apply to the Government Agencies or authorized entities undertaking official duties such as law enforcement, defence forces, disaster management operations or institution that has obtained prior written approval from the District Magistate, police personnel and other Government Officials/ Security Agencies if the drone purely in connection with their officials duties.

Any breach of this order would invite action under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and relevant provisions of the USA Rules. 2021.

All the Deputy Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrates of South authorized to verify the violation of order issued under section 163 of the  Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and to file FIR before the Court Police Station and to lodge complaint before the concerned Judicial Magistrate.

This prohibitory order is due to  escalating tensions along the international border, and heightened threat perception in terms of internal security, critical infrastructure vulnerability and civilian safety
