The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted inspections at 18 premises across Porvorim, Mapusa yard, and Colvale today. Fruit sampling was carried out at the Mapusa yard, and CCTV footage from various shops was reviewed to detect any suspicious activity.
Stalls near Alankar were revisited for surveillance checks. One chicken centre in Porvorim was ordered to shut down, while seven other restaurants were also closed due to violations.
A vendor operating without a registration certificate at the Mapusa yard was fined ₹10,000 under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The inspection team was led by Designated Officer (Licensing Authority) Richard Noronha and included Food Safety Officers Amit Mandrekar, Vishwasrao Rane, Lenin De Sa, Sneha Gaude, and Sujata Shetgaonkar. The operations were carried out under the guidance of FDA Director Shweta Desai.
