Margao SC booked their spot in the final of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup 2025 with a narrow 1-0 victory over United Club of Ambaulim at Moll Ground, Assolda, on Friday. In front of a vibrant crowd of around 1,500 spectators, both teams displayed grit and determination in a tense semifinal encounter. Hanslum Furtado spearheaded Margao SC’s attack with pace and intent, while Joel Barreto stood out for United Club of Ambaulim with a fighting display. A dramatic first-half moment saw Alex Fernandes of Ambaulim nearly level the match with a powerful strike, but Margao SC’s Kevin Araujo produced a goalline clearance to deny the equalizer. The only goal of the match came in the 15th minute through Alfred Noronha, whose clever finish proved decisive. The second half saw continued pressure from Ambaulim, with Crimson Fernandes rattling the crossbar in what was their best chance to pull level. Margao SC will now face the winner of the semifinal clash between Guardian Angel SC, Curchorem and USC Seraulim in the final on 10th August. Alfred Noronha was named Man of the Match and was felicitated by Reema Noronha.
