Sporting Club Davorlim, despite fielding only nine players, pulled off a gritty 1-0 win over United Boys of Ambaulim to book their spot in the quarterfinals of the 27th Holy Cross inter-village football tournament, organised by Guardian Angel SC in association with Holy Cross SC, at Vodlem Moll, Kakoda, on Monday.
Ambaulim had the upper hand for most of the match, but Davorlim’s disciplined marking denied them any clear scoring chances. The Davorlim goalkeeper was in top form, making several spectacular saves to keep his side in the game.
The match-winner came in the 45th minute of the second half, when Vellroy Colaco found the back of the net for Sporting Club Davorlim.
