AICC Media Incharge and CWC Member, Pawan Khera, has delivered a vehement stance against the BJP, particularly concerning the preservation of Goa’s identity and ecological balance. Addressing a press conference at Congress House, Khera emphasised the pivotal role of Goa as a national gem and lambasted BJP’s alleged attempts to transform it into a coal hub, favouring vested interests over environmental concerns.

Accompanied by key figures including GPCC President Amit Patkar and AICC Media Incharge Harshad Sharma, Khera underscored the urgency to safeguard Goa from what he portrayed as BJP’s relentless pursuit of land conversion to benefit its associates. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for purportedly reneging on promises such as the resumption of mining activities, accusing the ruling party of endangering Goa’s biodiversity.

Khera’s rhetoric pivoted sharply towards the issue of defection, advocating for a bolstering of anti-defection laws to curb what he termed BJP’s manipulation of democratic processes. He asserted that strengthening the Tenth Schedule would disincentivize party-switching among elected representatives, thereby preserving the integrity of electoral mandates.

In a scathing indictment of BJP’s governance, Khera accused the party of prioritising the interests of crony capitalists over the welfare of ordinary citizens. He alleged that Modi’s administration had turned a blind eye to malfeasance, exemplified by the recent scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. Khera contended that BJP’s electoral strategies were driven by an allegiance to corporate interests rather than the needs of the populace.

Furthermore, Khera outlined Congress’s vision for governance, promising a comprehensive approach to address pressing issues such as unemployment and agrarian distress. He pledged to prioritise job creation and social justice initiatives, contrasting Congress’s agenda with what he portrayed as BJP’s proclivity for empowering privileged elites.

In conclusion, Khera rallied against BJP’s alleged attempts to undermine constitutional values, rallying support for Congress’s electoral campaign under the banner of “400 paar,” signalling a decisive electoral victory.
