Goan Reporter News: Tourism Minister attends Yuva Tourism Conclave

The Department of Tourism organised an interactive meet with Tourism Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte along with students from various schools and colleges who are part of the Yuva Tourism Club at Goa University.

Shri Rohan Khaunte, Tourism Minister while speaking on the occasion stated that these young ambassadors will be catalysts for promoting tourism in the country. The establishment of Yuva Tourism Clubs was initiated in schools, colleges and other institutions in connection with the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations. “Goa is blessed with rich culture, heritage and needs to be promoted. We need to explore in terms of spiritual, wellness, Corporate Events, Eco Tourism. We need youths to develop new ideas and innovation to push tourism sector in Goa. Goa needs to diversify its identity and youths are responsible to ensure that the target is achieved”.

While speaking at the gathering the Director of Tourism Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS said that the objection of the Yuva Tourism Club is to nurture and develop young ambassadors of Indian tourism. “Tourism is a lifeline of Goan economy and nearly 35% of employment is generated by this sector. In coming years Tourism sector will generate more such opportunities in terms of employment. The youngsters have huge potential to create new innovations and ideas which will enrich their leadership skills and benefit the Government”.

During the conclave students from Dnyan Prassarak Vidyalaya, Zantye College, GVM College, Dempe College interacted with the Minister. Prof. Gervasio Mendes Additional Director of Directorate of Higher Education, Shri Vidyadatta Verenkar Dean of Goa University, Dr. Nitin Sawant Asst. Professor of Goa University and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
