The water pump supplying the Kuinamol water tank in Sanguem has been damaged for the past four days, resulting in a complete halt of water supply to Kashti and nearby villages. With no springs, rivers, or other natural sources of water in Kashti, residents are forced to travel over 5 km to the water tank just to fetch water for daily needs.
residents are saying that the water pump malfunctions every three months, leaving them in distress repeatedly. The tank itself is reportedly small, rusted, and in poor condition, yet it continues to be used to supply water to the village taps.
The community is urging authorities to take immediate and long-term action, Replacing the faulty pump with a more durable one,Upgrading the existing rusted and undersized tank,Considering the construction of a secondary or backup source of water supply
Water is a basic right, and consistent failures in supply infrastructure need urgent redressal to prevent further hardship to the people of Kashti and surrounding villages.
a local landowner had generously donated land for the construction of a new tank, but the government has not taken any steps to utilize it.
