During a Calling Attention Motion in the Goa Legislative Assembly, Opposition MLAs expressed serious concern over the alarming increase in road accidents statewide. MLA Carlos Ferreira criticized the government’s failure to restore roads post underground cabling. MLA Viresh Borkar called for urgent identification and repair of accident-prone black spots, while MLA Vijai Sardesai demanded a concrete road safety strategy. In response, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured that contractors carrying out unauthorised digging will be penalised, and PWD clearance has been made mandatory. The House was informed that Goa witnessed over 2,000 accidents and 200 deaths in the past year.
