St Anthony SC Assolda defeated Navelim Sporting Club 7–6 via a tense penalty shootout to book their place in the semifinals of the 52nd Custodio Memorial Football Tournament, held at the Raia Panchayat Ground on Friday. The match saw early action, with Jayson Coutinho of Navelim Sporting missing a promising chance in the 6th minute. Cajetan Fernandes of St Anthony SC Assolda came close to scoring in the 10th minute on a quick counterattack but narrowly missed the target. Roland Pereira put Navelim Sporting ahead in the 35th minute with a glancing header off a well-placed cross. However, the second half saw a strong comeback from St Anthony SC Assolda, with Moises D’Sa equalizing in the 46th minute through a smartly placed shot. With the score tied 1–1 at full time, the match went to penalties. St Anthony SC Assolda held their composure to win the shootout 7–6. The Man of the Match award was presented to Richard Fernandes of St Anthony SC Assolda by Chief Guest Dr. Errol Rodrigues, in recognition of his standout performance.
