Panaji: March 23, 2026 ::The State Government has officially notified Census-2027 Phase 1 to be conducted over a 30-day period from April 16 to May 15, 2026.
The Census will be conducted in two distinct phases; Phase 1-Houselisting and Housing Census and Phase II- Population Enumeration. This comprehensive exercise aims to present an accurate and detailed portrait of the nation’s demographic and housing landscape-serving as a guiding compass for policy-making, infrastructure development and welfare initiatives.
During this phase, a scientifically designed 33-point questionnaire, notified by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, will capture vital information including: Housing characteristics and structural details, Household composition, Demographic profile of the head of household (with inclusive gender categories), Availability of basic amenities such as water, sanitation, and electricity, cooking facilities and fuel usage patterns, Ownership of assets and digital connectivity and Vehicle ownership and communication access. This data will highlight the living conditions and socio-economic fabric of households with unprecedented clarity.
Facility for public for Self-Enumeration (SE); The Self-Enumeration facility offers a seamless and convenient way for general public to participate in this national exercise through digital platform at their own convenience. Period: April 1, 2026 to midnight of April 15, 2026 and Platform: se.census.gov.in. With user-friendly features such as guided tooltips, FAQs, and real-time validation checks, the portal ensures both ease of use and accuracy.
To ensure no household is left behind, approximately 3,000 dedicated enumerators and supervisors will conduct door-to-door visits across the State. Data submitted online will be verified and authenticated, advanced validation mechanisms are embedded within enumeration systems, Multi-layer supervision ensures accuracy and accountability and Robust security protocols safeguard data at every stage- from collection to storage.
