Chief Minister of Goa today underscoring the need for structured, scientific integration of traditional systems of medicine with modern healthcare frameworks asserted that central message emerging from the conference – integration must be systematic, evidence-based, and guided by rigorous scientific validation.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour for the valedictory function of the 3rd edition of the International Ayush Conference and Exhibition at UAE,  yesterday, Dr Sawant stressed that preventive healthcare must become foundational rather than supplementary, shifting global health systems from reactive treatment models to proactive wellness-oriented approaches.

Dr Sawant maintained that Dubai, as a global hub of innovation, commerce, and cultural convergence, has  just not provided the perfect platform for this dialogue for the past three days, but has also sent a powerful global affirmation that traditional systems of medicine have an essential role in shaping the future of healthcare. The depth of scientific discussions, the quality of research presentations, the policy deliberations, and the cross-border collaborations that have emerged here reflect the growing international confidence in AYUSH systems, he pointed.

The Chief Minister stated that the future of global healthcare lies in convergence – where traditional wisdom and modern medical science complement each other to provide safe, affordable, and sustainable healthcare solutions. He noted that collaboration across nations must replace isolated efforts, as shared knowledge, joint research, regulatory harmonisation, and institutional partnerships are key to building resilient health systems.

The participation of experts, regulators, clinicians, industry leaders, and wellness entrepreneurs from across continents, he observed, underscores the universal relevance of integrative healthcare. This global gathering has demonstrated that AYUSH is no longer viewed merely as heritage, but is increasingly recognised as a viable and evidence-based component of modern healthcare systems.

The Chief Minister further acknowledged that under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, AYUSH has gained unprecedented global recognition. From the internationalisation of Yoga to the institutional strengthening of Ayurveda and other traditional systems, India has consciously positioned integrative healthcare as a key pillar of its global health diplomacy. The growing international participation at this conference stands as a testament to that transformative vision.

Reaffirming Goa’s commitment to holistic health and wellness, the Chief Minister noted that the State continues to align its healthcare and tourism strategies with the broader vision of promoting integrative medicine, wellness tourism, and sustainable health practices.

The conference concluded on a note of renewed commitment among participating nations and institutions to deepen collaboration, strengthen research frameworks, and expand access to integrative healthcare solutions worldwide.

The Chief Minister on his arrival was welcomed with a traditional Kunbi Shawl by Shri Dipak Bandekar Director, DIP.

Earlier, Dr Sawant going around the Goa Stall at the exhibition evinced keen interest in the display at the stall and complimented the Department for the unique stall with Eco-friendly material which stood out among all the stalls at the event.

The other delegation members comprised of Shri Allwyn X. Pereira, Information Officer, Dr. Minal Joshi, Dy. Director AYUSH, Dte of Health and Dr Sameer Sadekar, Sr Ayurvedic Physician, NGDH, Asilo Hospital, Mapusa. Dr. Dipali Shirwaikar and Dr Shambhavi Gadgil – key stakeholders in the field of Ayurvedic medicines.
