The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has urged all food business operators (FBOs) preparing bakery items, snacks and are vending at various local areas by installing  a table or through the boots of cars tomensure compliance to the following mandatory requirements before engaging in vending activities, failing whichthey shall be liable to face penal action.

The mandatory guidelines are as follows: every local vendor (if vending in a local area) shall ensure that they have obtained a NOC from the local body (panchayat or Municipal council or CCP) for vending in the local area; they shall have a FSSAI registration certificates issued to their kitchen or place of preparation; that they should ensure all the stipulate hygiene norms are followed at the place of preparation and the vending area and they shall not take orders from homes for cakes, pastries without FSSAI registration.

FDA has warned that if such vendors are operating without the above permission they shall refrain from such vending activity immediately and shall also stop promoting their business through social media failing which they shall be liable for legal action under section 63 of the FSS Act 2006.

These vendors may visit FDA help desk with the stipulated documents for assistance and obtaining permissions.
