Panaji, June 15, 2026
The Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) will hand over the keys of school bus to the Management of Siddharth Bandodkar Higher Secondary School, Velguem, on June 16, 2026. Bus is procured under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), Government of India.
Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Collector, North Goa will grace the occasion.
This will improve the transportation facilities to the students and will enhance access to education for those residing in surrounding areas and support their daily commute to the institution. This is a significant step towards strengthening educational access and student mobility in a remote part of Goa.
Rooted in the educational vision of Bhausaheb Bandodkar, the institution holds the distinction of being the only educational establishment of the Bandodkar Education Society in the State. Over the years, the school has played an important role in providing quality education to students from the region. The institution was further strengthened with the introduction of the Science stream during the tenure of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, expanding academic opportunities beyond the existing Arts and Commerce streams. The newly procured bus, with a seating capacity of approximately 45 passengers, is expected to ease commuting challenges faced by students and support regular attendance.
The institution also shares a longstanding association with late Shri Manohar Parrikar, who had extended significant support to the school and unveiled the statue of Bhausaheb Bandodkar within the campus premises.
