The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, in coordination with the Office of the Collector & District Magistrate, South Goa District, organised a capacity-building programme for State Nodal Authorities, District Authorities and Implementing Agencies on the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) and eSAKSHI Portal on August 21, 2026 at Fairfield by Marriott, Benaulim, South Goa.

 

Representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Kerala, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, along with the Union Territory of Lakshadweep discussed on various aspects of MPLADS, including processing of recommendations, sanction and implementation of eligible works, procurement procedures, financial management, monitoring and effective utilisation of the eSAKSHI Portal.

 

The programme facilitated interaction among the participating authorities and implementing agencies, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss practical challenges and seek clarifications on issues related to the implementation of MPLADS and use of the eSAKSHI Portal. The sessions also promoted coordination and sharing of best practices among the stakeholders.

 

The initiative is expected to enhance the institutional capacity of the concerned authorities, improve coordination and facilitate more effective, transparent and timely implementation of MPLADS works, thereby contributing to efficient delivery of development benefits to the public.

 

The programme was attended by Director General, MoSPI Smt. Geeta Singh Rathore; Deputy Director General (MPLADS), MoSPI Shri. Joseph C. F; Director, MoSPI, Shri Vikas Nigam; Collector, South Goa District Smt. Egna Cleetus, IAS along with senior officers and representatives from participating States and Union Territories.
