The North Goa District Mineral Foundation Trust (NGDMFT) organized an awareness programme on the objectives, activities and implementation framework of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) in the mining-affected areas of North Goa held at the Municipal Hall, Sankhalim.
During the programme, Dr. Sachin Tendulkar delivered a detailed presentation on behalf of District Mineral Foundation, highlighting the objectives of the District Mineral Foundation and the various developmental activities undertaken in mining-affected areas through the Trust. He explained that the Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life of people residing in mining-affected villages by supporting initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare, drinking water, sanitation, infrastructure, livelihood generation and environmental conservation.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tendulkar appealed to the Swayampurna Mitras to actively participate in the developmental process by identifying the priority needs and works in their respective villages. He urged them to submit well-prepared proposals so that deserving projects could be considered and placed before the competent authority for approval under the District Mineral Foundation.
The programme also familiarized the participants with the implementation framework of the Trust and encouraged greater community participation in planning and execution of development works in mining-affected areas.
The awareness programme witnessed the participation of HoD’s of various Government Departments, Swayampurna Mitras, representatives of local bodies, officials and other stakeholders from the mining-affected areas of North Goa.
Earlier, Member Secretary Shri Ratnakant Govekar welcomed the dignitaries, invitees, and participants. In his introductory address, he highlighted the objectives of the North Goa District Mineral Foundation Trust (NGDMFT) and explained that the awareness programme had been organized to educate and benefit the local communities as well as other stakeholders in the mining-affected areas. He also emphasized the importance of active public participation in ensuring the effective implementation of the Trust’s welfare initiatives
