The Election Commission of India, New Delhi, has announced the schedule for Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral rolls with reference to January 01,2027 as the qualifying date, with a view to ensuring the preparation of accurate, updated, inclusive and error-free electoral rolls
As a part of the preparatory activities, the rationalization of polling stations will be undertaken in accordance with the applicable instructions of the Election Commission of India. The exercise aims to facilitate voter convenience, improve accessibility and ensure that polling stations are suitably located for the electorate.
The need for new polling stations, if any, will be assessed, keeping in view the prescribed limit of 1,200 electors per polling station, subject to the Commission’s approval wherever required. Sections will also be rationalised to distribute electors equitably. Efforts will be made to ensure that voters do not have to travel more than two kilometres or cross natural barriers to reach their polling station.
In this regard, meetings with recognized political parties is scheduled on October 23,2026 at 12.00 noon to discuss the SSR schedule. The participation and suggestions of political parties will help ensure transparency and facilitate effective coordination among all stakeholders.
The exercise aims to make polling stations more accessible, improve the accuracy of electoral rolls and facilitate a smooth and voter-friendly electoral process.
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Goa has appealed to all stakeholders to extend their cooperation in the successful conduct of the Special Summary Revision and in maintaining accurate and inclusive electoral rolls.
Rationalization and rearrangement of polling stations will take place by November 02, 2026, publication of integrated draft electoral rolls will be done on November 12, 2026. The period for filing claims and objections is November 12, 2026 to December 11, 2026. The period for the disposal of claims and objections is by December 28, 2026. The final publication of electoral rolls will be done on January 04, 2027.
