AWARENESS IS KEY TO FIGHTING ONLINE FRAUD: R.K. SRIVASTAVA

Panaji, December 14, 2016 …. “As technology advances daily, cyber criminal too, try to find ways to exploit people to derive benefits through illegal means,” said Shri R.K. Srivastava, IAS, Chief Secretary, who was the Chief Guest at an awareness program ‘Online and Financial Frauds methods and its prevention’ organised by Goa Police on Tuesday in Panaji.

“The best safeguard,” Shri Srivastava said, “Is to be aware and educated on these issues so that people don’t fall prey to such online frauds.” A lot of school students attended the awareness program. Shri R.K. Srivastava further said, “Students are the torchbearers to educating their families at home, and in neighbourhood.”

The Director General of Police, Dr. Muktesh Chander IPS, spoke of how online fraud has been going on for a very long time. “Only the presentation method of these frauds has changed. Money doesn’t grow on trees is an age old saying which holds true even today and is relevant. Things such as scheme and information which sound too good to be true should be carefully analysed.”  

The Superintendent of Police (Cyber Crime) Karthik Kashyap, IPS, spoke of the importance of creating awareness regarding various online frauds and scams. We have to be alert at all times he said. A booklet with information related to common methods adopted by criminals to cheat online was released and distributed.

SCREENING OF ALL LABOURERS IS MANDATORY

Panaji: December 14, 2016 …. The Captain of Ports Department through the Director, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme under Directorate of Health Services has informed that it is mandatory for screening of all labourers, crew members working on the jetties, boats, vessels through the local Health Office. Further, it should be ensure that the tyres use on the boats, vessels as fenders are punctured to prevent stagnation of water which is potential site breeding.

Therefore all owners, masters of the barges, jetties, shipyards, drydocks, passenger launches, ferry boats, tindels of fishing trawlers and operators of the mechanized and non mechanized craft including the tourist boats etc. plying, located in the inland waters of Goa are hereby directed to ensure the compliance of the above directives.

CM INAUGURATES ASSONORA SPORTS COMPLEX AT ASSONORA

Panaji:- December 13,2016 …. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar inaugurated Assonora Sports Complex which was organized by Directorate of Sports and Youths Affairs at Assonora yestarday.

Chief Minister said that in the field of Sports, Government has taken up several projects and programmes for the benefit of the sports person in the state. He excited the players to take full care of the ground.

Director of Sports Shri V.M Parbhudesai, while speaking on the occasion said that Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs has always provide necessary Sports facilities and Sport infrastructure to players.

MLA of Tivim Constituency , Shri Kiran Kandolkar expressed his happiness and said that the all players should make maximum use of this ground.

CHIEF MINISTER HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

Panaji: December 12, 2016 … Apprenticeship Programme is essential to develop skill in youths and also to acquire knowledge stated Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar. The Chief Minister was speaking after distributing apprentice offer letters to pass out students of various Government Industrial Training Institutes of state through National Apprenticeship Promotional Scheme at  Appresticeship Bharti Mela programme organised by Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at Government Multipurpose College Hall, Borda Margao. 320 students from various ITI’s across State were given apprenticeship offer letters. 52 Industries have participated in this scheme.

Others present on the occasion were Shri. Virendra Kumar, Secretary, Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri. Manish Gosalia, Chairman, Institute Management Committee, Government ITI, Margao and Shri. Alexio F Da Costa, Director, Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Shri. Parsekar said, Government is giving special attention to improve the functioning of ITI’s in the State and has also taken keen interest in Skill India Mission an initiative of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi. Shri. Parsekar said, to achieve success in life one has to acquire skill and especially while venturing into entrepreneurship it is important to develop special skill. Goan youths are filled with various types of skills. However there is a need to polish and develop this skills and by taking this into consideration and to establish connectivity of skilled youths with Business Houses Government has started National Apprenticeship Promotional Scheme.

Shri. Parsekar said to facilitate and give boost to entrepreneurs Economic Development Corporations satellite office for South Goa at Margao will be opened soon. Shri. Parsekar informed that, Government is giving financial help to 150 entrepreneurs every month through Chief Ministers Rojgar Yojana and also through OBC and ST Corporations. Integrity, attitude, discipline, punctuality and performance if shown while serving as apprentice will surely help to develop yourself as independent entrepreneur and one can become ideal to other youths Shri. Parsekar said.

Shri. Manish Gosalia said that youths need to take responsibilities and upgrade knowledge and skills quickly. There is nothing wrong in making mistakes but we have to learn from mistakes Shri. Gosalia added. Shri. Alexio F Da Costa, Director, Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship welcomed the gathering.

CM PRESENTS GOMANT VIBHUSHAN AWARD TO SHRI LAXMAN PAI

Panaji:- December 10, 2016 …. Chief Minister, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar felicitated Shri Laxman Pai with the “Gomant Vibhushan Award”, the Highest Civilian Award of the State, in Panaji on Friday. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the paintings of Shri Laxman Pai, which are on exhibit at Kala Academy in Panaji.

The Chief Minister while addressing the gathering said that Goa is small in size but was filled with talented people. He said that Shri Laxman Pai is awarded in various countries but felicitation in his own home state was necessary. He said that Shri Pai is an inspiration to artists to start their career by keeping image of such great personality in their life.

An audio visual documentary film on Shri Laxman Pai was screened on the occasion. The Minister of Art and Culture, Shri Dayanand Mandrekar, Leader of Opposition, Shri Pratapsingh  Rane, and Secretary, Art and Culture, Shri Daulat Hawaldar  were among those who were present at the function .    

Secretary, Art and Culture, Shri Daulat Hawaldar welcomed the gathering. Shri Govind Bhagat compered the programme while Director of Art and Culture, Shri Prasad Lolyekar proposed the vote of thanks.

YUVA SRUJAN PURASKAR AWARDEES 2016

Panaji:-December 08, 2016 …. Minister for Water Resource Department Shri Dayanand  Mandrekar felicited the Yuva Srujan Puraskar Awardees 2016 at the function held at Directorate of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan ,Patto Panaji which was organized by Directorate of Art and Culture yesterday.

On the occasion Secretary Art and Culture Shri  Daulat Hawaldar was also present.

Minister for Art and Culture Shri Dayanand  Mandrekar while addressing the gathering  greeted the awardees and appreciated the work of Art and Culture for  encouraging the Goan Artist  by Felicitating them at young age as it is the important duty for promoting the State Artists.

Shri  Daulat Hawaldar congratulated the awardees and lauded them for their efforts and dedication in their respective field .

STATE  YOUTH  FESTIVAL TO BE HELD ON DEC 14,15

Panaji: December 7, 2016 … State Youth festival to be held at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir Ponda on December 14 and 15, 2016.

The North District Youth Festival was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali on November 24 and 25, 2016.

The South District Youth Festival was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Fatorda on November 30, and December 1, 2016.

Approximately 2600 youth participated in the 4 days festival. The winners of the North and South District youth festival have qualified for the State youth festival to be held at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda.

1.5 LAKH YOUTH WILL BENEFIT FROM YUVA SAMVAD YOJANA: CM

Panaji: December 6, 2016 …. Yuva Samvad Yojana is a scheme which will give access to education, skills and employment and will benefit around 1.5 lakhs youth of the State stated Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar. This scheme is designed specially by focusing on the future of the youth Shri. Parsekar said.

He was speaking after launching the Yuva Samvad Yojana at function for South Goa youth in Gogal, Margao. This is a unique scheme for youth of 16 to 30 years of age who will be provided with free mobile SIM card, 100 minutes talk time per month and mobile data.

Others present on the occasion were MLA Shri. Caetano Silva, MLA Shri. Rajan Naik, Zilla Panchayat member of Davorlim Shri. Ulhas Tuyenkar, Director of Information Technology Shri. Amey Abhyankar, Shri. Damu Naik, Shri. Sharmad Raiturkar, Shri. Siddhesh Naik, Head, Vodafone Business Services Shri. Mahesh Menon, Head, Government Segment, Vodafone India Shri. Shekhar Agarwal and others. This scheme is started by Department of Information and Technology in Collaboration with Goa Electronics Limited and Vodafone a mobile network Company.

Speaking further Shri. Parsekar said that, cyber literacy in the State has gone up as a result of Cyber Age scheme which was started under leadership of Ex Chief Minister and present Defence Minister Shri. Manohar Parrikar. Yuva Samvad Yojana Scheme is a first of its kind in the Country and that is why it is very much important. Employment in the State will be created on large scale in the field of Information Technology Shri. Parsekar said. Government has tried its best to reach to all sectors of the society he added.

Shri. Amey Abhaynkar in his welcome speech said that this scheme is designed under Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modis programmme ‘Digital India’. All youths who are resident of State, minimum from last 5 years, will be benefited under the scheme. Initially ten outlets of Vodafone in State will provide this schemes and in addition special camps in colleges will be organized Shri. Abhaynkar informed. The only document required to obtain this scheme is Adhar Card he said.

Shri. Shekhar Agarwal said that Vodafone Company will provide free M-Pesa wallet with this scheme by which youths can pay bills and other types of fees online. Chief Minister released forms for this scheme and distributed it to youth representatives.
