panaji.. nov.. 2015 … Don Bosco Ground, Panjim witnessed a cracking 90 minutes of football in which AIFF Academy beat Sporting Clube de Goa 3 – 2. The match saw a series of ups and downs which finally ended with the away team breaking the dead lock with an injury time goal.

The match started off with an evenly balanced game play in which both sides displayed some attacking football. The first goal came at the 26thminute when Sporting were awarded a free kick just outside the 16 yard box. Moises D’sa of Sporting converted the free kick with a powerful low shot. In the rest of first half, either side increased their attack but couldn’t make most of the gazillion chances created in front of the goal.

The second half saw a high intensity play right from the kick off. The Flaming Oranje were able to find their second goal through Akeraj Martins in the 51st minute when he calmly dribbled past the defenders to place the ball high into the right corner of the goal. Akeraj OF Sporting has continued to impress everyone with his fine dribbling skills and ability to score consistently.

However post this goal AIFF came back strongly and started pushing hard at the Sporting half.  They found their first strike at 60th minute through Jerry Lalrinzuala who was lurking inside the Sporting’s 16 yard box to convert a sharp free kick and pull one back for AIFF. The next goal came within the next 6 minutes when the second half substitute Nijwm Muchahary converted a smartly taken corner kick with a powerful header to beat Sherwin and make it all square for AIFF. The next 20 odd minutes witnessed some scintillating football at both ends with either sides missing some golden opportunities. At the end of 90 minutes the score board was all square and the additional time of 4 minutes were shown which saw one opportunity go wasted at each end of the pitch. However the final goal came in much after the added time when the referee Ritesh Parsekar for reasons unknown decided to continue the match beyond the stipulated time and gifted a controversial corner kick in favour of AIFF. Once again it turned out to be the evening of super subs for AIFF when Rahul Yadav converted the last opportunity of the match to break the Flaming Oranje hearts at Don Bosco Ground.
