STATE LEVEL STANDARDIZATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD

Panaji : May 07, 2025 :: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in collaboration with Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, organized the first meeting of the State Level Committee on Standardization (SLCS) for the State of Goa. The meeting was successfully held under the Chairmanship of Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, Chief Secretary with Shri Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, Secretary, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs,  also providing stewardship during the meeting.

The State Level Committee on Standardization has been constituted to enhance coordination between the Goa State Government and BIS, and to promote the adoption of Indian Standards in various sectors including public procurement, infrastructure, and governance.

From the Bureau of Indian Standards, Shri Praveen Khanna, Deputy Director General, Southern Regional Office, Shri G. Venkatanarayanan, Director, Southern Regional Office, and Shri P. N. Murali, Director and Head, BIS Hubli Branch Office participated in the meeting, along with other committee members.

The discussions focused on integrating standards into state-level policies, encouraging the use of ISI-marked products, and strengthening the quality ecosystem in Goa. Emphasis was laid on increasing awareness about standardization among departments, industries, and consumers, thereby fostering sustainable development and consumer safety.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work collaboratively for the effective implementation of standards in the State of Goa, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all spheres of governance and industry.
