TRAFFIC SAFETY AWARENESS IS NEED OF THE HOUR – CM

Panaji July  31,2016 …. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has said  traffic safety awareness is the need of the hour  and therefore all possible measures should be adopted to educate the masses on traffic safety awareness. He said the figures of road fatalities in Goa are alarming and the State has lost many precious lives specially the youth who are assets of the state.

The Chief Minister was speaking was speaking at the inauguration of road safety awareness lectures at Goa Police Gazetted Officers institute at Altinho Panaji today. The lectures will be conducted every Saturday in Panaji and at Margao.

Speaking further the Chief Minister said students play a vital role and if a student is educated on road safety he can educate his parents and surrounding. He advised the Police not to limit this awareness drive upto Panaji and Margao but to take it in the remote places such as Pernem to Canacona for wider awareness.

Earlier in his welcome address, Director General of  Police Dr. Muktesh Chandar said that the Goa Police will try its best to inculcate habit of road safety in Goa. He also said that road engineering defect also needs to be corrected for smooth flow of traffic. Dy. Inspector General of Police Shri Vimal Anand Gupta was also present.

Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Smt. Suman Goel compered and later proposed the vote of thanks.
