TRIPARTITE AGREEMENT SIGNED FOR WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEM

Panaji, November 11, 2025:: In a significant step towards sustainable waste management, the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA), and M/s GD Environmental Pvt. Ltd. have recently signed a tripartite agreement for establishing a 10 TPD Gasification Technology-based Waste Treatment Plant at Sonsodo, Margao.

The project marks a major milestone in Margao’s efforts to address the issue of mixed solid waste and reduce dependence on landfills through advanced and environment-friendly technology. The 10 TPD (tonnes per day) gasification-based plant will be implemented under the management of GEDA, on behalf of the Margao Municipal Council.

A Pune-based firm, M/s GD Environmental Pvt. Ltd. has been selected for the fabrication and installation of the plant, which is expected to be completed by end of 2025 or early 2026.

The tripartite agreement was formally signed in the presence of Mr. Gauresh Pilgaonkar, Managing Director, Goa Energy Development Agency, and Shri Madhu Narvekar, Chief Officer, Margao Municipal Council, along with representatives of  M/s.  GD Environmental Pvt. Ltd.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gauresh Pilgaonkar highlighted that the project represents a progressive step in introducing innovative waste management solutions in Goa and reflects the State’s commitment to sustainable development. Shri Madhu Narvekar emphasized the importance of the initiative in resolving long-pending waste management challenges at Sonsodo and ensuring a cleaner, healthier Margao. Member Secretary Shri Sanjeev Joglekar  highlighted  the innovative features of System and potential to serve as a model for other waste management initiatives. The waste disposal system’s uniqueness likely lies in its innovative approach, technology, or methodology, setting it apart from conventional waste management systems.

The collaboration underscores the joint commitment of all stakeholders to promote sustainable waste management, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create local employment opportunities, contributing significantly to Goa’s environmental sustainability and circular economy goals.
