Panaji: September, 2015 …. The Governor of Goa Dr. Mridula Sinha has said that in the perpetuation of progress, and in building a peaceful and prosperous society, legal luminaries have a critical and scared role and responsibility to discharge.
Lawyers are the indestructible link between the court and the common people. Fortified by profound legal knowledge and wisdom, lawyers can enlighten the people on their rights and duties and help the Governments of the countries in a greater measure in the enforcement of the laws and thus promote peace, harmony and progress.
Dr. Sinha was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of three day 26th Conference of Presidents of Law Associations of Asia held at Bambolim yesterday.
Dr. Sinha speaking further said that it is indeed a matter of satisfaction that the Presidents of the Law Associations of Asia are meeting here at this three day Summit.
Their participation in this important meeting is a clear indication of the growing international relation and human fellowship among these countries, which is a good sign of progress.
The greatest need today is to strengthen human relationship between the peoples of the various nations. They should live and work as friendly partners for the cause of welfare of the people. India has always been, and continues to be, committed to world peace and order, she added.
Dr. Sinha said that the challenges which the Asian countries are facing, call for enhanced cooperation and coordinated efforts, so that their socio-economic developmental aspirations can be fulfilled and the people can live a better life.
She expressed hope and desire that the Law Associations of the various countries will make their contribution to the cause of strengthening the relations between these countries and to raise the standards of living of their common people Dr. Sinha opined.
Dr. Sinha hoped that the 26th Summit of the Presidents of Law Associations of Asia, to discuss ,deliberate and exchange views on the subjects of role of law , administration of justice, human right.
Hon.ble Mr. T.S. Thakur Justice, Judge, Supreme Court of India, in his keynote address called upon the lawyers to be more responsible and work to maintain the credibility and contribute to the progress of the society and the nation.
Shri K.N. Bhat, President SILF, Shir R.K.P. Shankardas President of BAI, Smt. Pinky Anand Additional Solicitor General of India were those spoke on the occasion.
The delegates from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hongkong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapur, Pakistan, Taiwan, and Srilanka attended the function.
Shri A.N.S Nadkarni Advocate General Government of Goa welcomed the gathering while Shri Prashant Kumar, President Elect LAWASIA compeered the function and Smt Rachana Srivastava Hon.ble General Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
