Panaji: December 12, 2025::The Directorate of Social Welfare has brought to the notice the Supreme Court of India’s directions (Jane Kaushik vs Union of India and Ors, pertaining to the nomination in every establishment (As defined under Section 2 (b) of the of the Transgender Persons (Protection Of Rights) Act, 2019) of a Complaint officer/Grievance redressal officer in compliance with Section 11 of the said Act and Rule 13 of the Transgender Persons (Protection Of Rights) Rules, 2020; As per SC directions, a Transgender Welfare Board and a Transgender Protection Cell are to be established in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and an officer, not below the rank of Joint Secretary as Nodal Officer for the State has to be appointed.
