The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant paid floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial Salvador de Souza Garden, Panaji, in memory of the Pinto Revolt. Present on the occasion were Chief Secretary, Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS; Collector, North, Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS; Inspector General of Police, Shri K. R. CHAURASIA; President of Freedom Fighters Association, Shri. Rohidas Dessai among others.
The Police Guard of Honour paid compliments to the Memorial and the police band played the last post and the National Anthem.
The Pinto Revolt was a rebellion against Portuguese rule in Goa in 1787 and served as an inspiration to others to join the freedom movement.
