Panaji:  March 12, 2026::Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, Chief Secretary reviewing the LPG supply situation in the State with the representatives of the Oil Companies of IOCL, HPCL and BPCL along with senior officials of the State, today, amid concerns over the availability of cooking gas asserted that the overall situation in the State is good and domestic consumers need not fear for supply of gas cylinders as there is ample stock.

Secretary (Civil Supplies), Shri Sanjeev Gadkar, IAS; IGP, Shri K.R. Chaurasia, IPS; Collectors of both the Districts, Shri AnkitYadav, IAS and Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS; Director, Civil Supplies, Shri JayantTari and other senior officers were among those who attended the meeting.

Chief Secretary underscoring the need to disseminate correct information to the general public to allay their fears impressed upon the District Collectors to issue directions to the SDM and Dy. Collector of every Taluka to monitor and sensitize of the prevailing situation. The Supdt of Police of both Districts were also directed to provide necessary assistance to the Oil companies in ensuring smooth delivery to the domestic consumers when needed. It was also emphasized the need to sensitize the public on the same to arrest the panic buying of LPG and hoarding by consumers.

The representatives of the oil companies apprising the Chief Secretary and other members of the current situation of various stocks at their disposal informed certain restrictions being imposed on the use of LPG by commercial establishments to safeguard domestic availability. However, they clarified that priority consumers like Defense, educational institutions, hospitals etc are exempted from the restrictions.  They also informed about the contingency and a back-up plan in case of future requirements for the State, if required.
