Panaji: April 22, 2026: Building on its strong track record in waste management, the Government of Goa will inaugurate a 10 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) Gasification Technology Based Waste Treatment Plant at Sonsodo in Margao on April 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
The plant will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant in the presence of senior officials and stakeholders. The initiative underscores the Government’s continued focus on sustainable technologies and modern waste management infrastructure.
Developed by GD Environmental Pvt. Ltd. (GDEPL), the project is designed to process residual waste remaining after segregation, along with street and roadside waste collected across the city, converting it into useful energy resources.
Based on indigenously developed technology, the advanced plant utilises thermal conversion methods to generate clean energy. It also includes a real-time emission monitoring system, while residual waste is converted into reusable by-products, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
The plant, with a capacity to process approximately 3,650 tonnes of waste annually, offers a scientific alternative to conventional waste disposal practices and aligns with the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The plant marks another significant milestone in Goa’s waste management progress, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
