Directorate of Fisheries will be celebrating National Fish Farmers Day on July 9, 2026 at 9.30 a.m onwards at Panaji Gymkhana, Campal, Panaji.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Minister of Fisheries Shri Nilkant Halarnkar and others will attend the celebration.
The day commemorates the historic achievement of Dr. Hiralal Chaudhury and Dr. K. H. Alikunhi who successfully induced breeding in Indian Major Carps in 1957 revolutionizing inland aquaculture in India.
