The Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (DSDE) has informed that they are taking a transformative step towards creating job creators instead of only job seekers by integrating entrepreneurship into skill training across Government ITIs.
Under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and through the Mukhyamantri Swayam Rozgar Yojana (MSRY), the Directorate in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) has successfully implemented a comprehensive Entrepreneurship Development initiative across all 10 Government ITIs in the State.
The 48 ITI Instructors underwent an intensive 6-days Faculty Mentor Development Programme (FMDP) at EDII, Ahmedabad, equipping them with the skills to mentor future entrepreneurs. In addition, 1631 ITI trainee participated in Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs), where they were introduced to business planning, innovation, startup opportunities, financial assistance and self-employment schemes.
The initiative reflects the Government’s commitment to empowering every skilled youth with the confidence to start enterprises, generate employment and contribute to Goa’s economic growth.
Further they also stated that today ITIs are no longer limited to traditional vocational education. Along with industry-oriented technical skills, trainees are now being equipped with entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, digital competencies and business magement skills, enabling them to build sustainable careers either through employment or self-employment.
