40882 Quintals of Seeds Made Available to KVKS to Meet any Contingent Requirement of Farmers

18/07/2014 … Weather information and related agro-advisories are provided to farmers by Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) through Kisan Mobile Advisory messages, Radio & TV programmes and newspapers. KVKs have also prepared contingent plans emphasizing on crop that requires less water, short duration varieties and planning for protective irrigation and enhanced water use efficiency. About 40882 quintals of seeds of various crops have also been made available to KVKs to meet any contingent requirement of farmers.

In the wake of weak monsoon during Kharif-2014, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has been constantly monitoring the weather forecasts and updating weather information to farmers to facilitate sowing of Kharif crops.

In addition, under National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA), ICAR has been providing demonstration on climate resilient practices like water harvesting, direct seeded rice, alternate wetting and drying, green maturing etc. on farmers’ fields to help farmers cope up with seasonal climatic variability in crop production.

This information was given today by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries in a written reply to Rajya Sabha questions.

SPORTS MINISTER FELICITATES SPORTS TALENTS FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENT

July 18, 2014 …. India’s top junior in Squash  Yash Fadte  was  felicitated by Sports Minister Shri RameshTawadkar in his chamber today.

Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa Shri Sandip Jacques, Director of Sports & Youth Affairs Shri Y. B. Tavde, Shri  Gurudatt Bhakta and Secretary, Goa Olympics Association, Shri Arund Bhat, Treasurer, SAG were present.

Mast.  Fadte has many sports achievements to his credit such as Pioneer Cup title in Germany, Asian Squash Runners up in Iran,  he had also won Hong Kong Junior Open an Asian Platinum Event. He is leaving for Mumbai on  July 19 to participate in the Squash Championship, organized by National Sports Club of India.

The Minister Shri Tawadkar also felicitated winners of 41st Junior National Aquatic Championship organized by Swimming Federation of India. Master Jerry D’Mello (Gold-Swimming(, Mast. PANAJI PS: Shri Mahesh Gaonkar r/o Models Maridien- Dona Paula- Panaji-Goa  complained that on 01.09.2000 at 03.50  hrs  at Panaji Police Station, accused namely1) Mr. D. H. Kenaudekar along with his brother, 2) G.H. Kenaudekar and 3)  Mrs. Anamika Kenaudekar criminally trespassed into the Panaji Police Station and criminally intermediated, abused and threatened  him when he was PI Panaji  Police Station and staff on duty at Panaji  Police station  by banging office tables, demanding  release of two accused person  namely 1)  Mr. Anthony Fernandes and Mariano Fernandes who were arrested u/s sec 151 Cr. P.C. Cr.No.291/14 u/s 353, 447, 504, 506 r/w 34 IPC is registered. PSI B .Z. Pawar is I.O.

2) Complaint upon behalf of the State that on 14.07.14 at 21.20 hrs, near Goa Motor driving school-Panaji, accused namely Vinesh Narayanan P.K. r/o c/o Prince Bakery-Taleigao N/O Kerala riding Yamaha M/cycle No. KL-46-J-1495 rode the same in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Taleigao Church to Tonca-Caranzalem and when reached at Goa Motor driving School- Panaji, dashed a Honda Brio car No.GA-07-E-7121 and due to said impact said motor cycle caught fire and was damaged completely and also caused injuries to pillion rider namely Devanand Kumar, age 22 yrs, c/o cafe Azad- Taleigao market- Panaji due to fall on the road. Cr.No.292/14 u/s 279, 337 IPC is registered.

3)  On 17.07.14, one  person namely  Anish Kishore Gadekar, age 30 yrs.,  r/o  Amral Bandh-Taleigao-Panaji committed suicide by hanging near Essar Galaxy building, Amrol Bandh-Taleigao. Dead body preserved in GMC Morgue Bambolim for PME. U.D.No.50/14 u/s 174 Cr. P. C. is registered.

VALPOI PS: Complaint on behalf of the State that on 17.07.14 at 19.15 hrs., near CHC-Valpoi, unknown driver of  truck No. GA-04-T-5410 drove in rash and negligent  manner  while  proceeding  from Honda  to Valpoi and  when reached  near  CHC- Valpoi, dashed to Passion M/cycle No.GA-02-P-9635 which  was coming  from opposite  direction  causing  grievous  injury  to M/ cycle rider namely Shahabuddin Badage, age 30 yrs., r/o  Bhuipal- Sattari and   accused person fled away from the spot without informing police. Accused driver namely Nawaz Shaikh, age 31 yrs., r/o Vaploi arrested and released on bail. Cr.No.51/14 u/s 279, 338 IPC and Sec 134 (a) (b) of M.V. Act is registered. HC-4169 is I.O.

PM condoles loss of lives in incident involving Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17

18/07/2014 …. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has condoled the loss of lives in the incident involving the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

“Our thoughts & prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives on board Flight MH17. We stand with them in this hour of grief,” the Prime Minister said.

 

CLEANLINESS DRIVE BY NCC CADETS OF 1 GOA BN

July 17, 2014 ….. 1 Goa Bn NCC, Panaji organized eight days of cleanliness drive in St Inez area between  Jul 5 to  Jul 10 and from  Jul  17  to  Jul 18.

NCC cadets of 1 Goa Bn NCC, Panaji accompanied with officials of Urban Health Centre, Panaji carried out house to house visits.

Also accompanied the NCC cadets were the staff of 1 Goa Bn NCC including Subedar Major Kankal Subhash, Training  JCO of the unit Subeder  Balwan Singh & Trg NCO of the unit Havaldar Asmatullah.

 Various breeding sites like open sintex tanks, tyres, buckets filled with water, coconut shells, grinding stones were identified. Necessary anti-larval measures were taken by anti-larval team. Leaflets mentioning do’s and don’ts in respect of vector borne diseases were distributed among locals.

 During this drive 1231 houses were visited.

Tourism Dept to strengthen Goa’s safety and security

17/07/goan beach2014 …. In order to boost tourist safety throughout the year, a sensitization workshop was held at with the Department of Tourism officials and the Tourist Police force, at the Tourism Bhavan, Patto, Panaji.

The meeting was addressed by Director Tourism, Deputy Director Mr. ArvindKhutkar, SP UmeshGaonkar and PSI Mr. SachinGawas. Around 97 IRB personnel were present at the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to brief the Tourist Police officers on management of duties on field, tacking situations and redressal of complaints.

Mrs. Pamela Mascarenhas, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism said, “Domestic tourists visit the state all throughout the year, during season and off-season.

The IRB personnel are deployed on all beaches of Goa and have been sensistized to take strict action against garbage dumping, drinking on beaches, cooking food on the roadside, littering, security of tourists especially women and prohibiting hawkers and beggars on beaches. A special training workshop will be conducted shortly on handling such situations.”

Strict laws will be followed to ‘Keep Goa green and clean.’ Drinking on beaches is prohibited and declared as nuisance. Anyone found doing so will be charged a fine of Rs. 5000/-. The Tourist police force has been asked to intervene if they notice incidents such as harassment/troubling women especially foreign tourists.

Signboards will be put up on all beaches warning tourists not to litter the beaches. If found littering, the person will be detained and fined by the Dept. of Tourism. No scooters/vehicles will be allowed on beaches except for the lifeguard vehicle/Ambulance/Police/Govt. vehicles. There will be zero tolerance for beggars and hawkers on beaches.

IRB force will also be deployed at the Calangute Promenade and action will be taken on vendors/tourists who litter the place. It has been noticed that tourists coming in tourist buses are found cooking on the roadside thereby creating a nuisance. The Govt. of Goa will soon pass an order not permitting such activities on the roadside.

The Department of Tourism has constituted a Flying Squad who will further take the responsibility in controlling escalated matters. Dy. Director, Mr. ArvindKhutkar mentioned that a special Surveillance and Monitoring team will inspect illegal activities in hotels, shacks and beaches.

Ten new vehicles will be shortly deployed for the purpose of patrolling in North and South Goa. CCTV cameras will be installed on all major beaches in the forthcoming tourist season.

17/07/2014 …. The Konkan Railway has decided to run following special trains on Konkan Railway route to clear extra rush of passengers during Ganpati Festival in co-ordination with Central Railway. 

Train no. 01033/01034 Mumbai CST – Madgaon Reserved special

Train No. 01033 CSTM – Madgaon special train will leave from CSTM at 00:20 hrs on 26th, 27th, 29th, 30th, 31st August and on 1 – 3 and 5 – 10 September 2014.  The train will reach Madgaon at 14:10 hrs on same day.

Train No. 01034 Madgaon – CSTM  special train will leave from Madgaon at 14:40 hrs on 26th, 27th, 29th, 30th, 31st August and on 1 – 3 and 5 – 10 September 2014.  The train will reach CSTM at 04:30 hrs on next day.

The train will run 6 days a week (Except Thursday). The train will halt at  Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Savarde, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Zarap, Sawantwadi Road, Madure, Pernem, Thivim and Karmali stations.

HEALTH MINISTER INAUGURATES DIALYSIS UNIT AT VASCO

Panaji: July 16, 2014 … Minister for Health and Panchayati Raj Shri Laxmikant Parsekar along with Power Minister Shri Milind Naik inaugurated Dialysis Unit at Vishwa Sanjivani Health Centre at Vasco yesterday.

Stressing on health care facilities in the state Shri Parsekar said that the Directorate of Health Services is pro active in imparting good health services to the people of the state. He said Goa is doing well as far as health parameters are concerned.

The diseases like Cancer and Diabetics are alarming in the state the Health Minister said and stressed the need that the people to take precautions. He said 17 to 18 percent of population in the state is diabetic patients. To cater good health care services to the people the Government is encouraging private partners in the health care sectors he added.

Speaking further Shri Parsekr said that, Deendayal Health Scheme will be launched shortly.

Others present on the occasion were Dr. S. N. Sardesai, Dr. Anand Kamat, Shri Sukant Shaanbag, Dr. Amol Mhaldar and Dr. H. P. Pai.

Elaborating on the functions of dialysis unit, Dr. Mhaldar said, the kidneys help filter waste, excess fluid, and toxins from our blood. If one’s kidneys fail, they will need a life-saving treatment called dialysis. Kidney dialysis is a life-support treatment that uses a special machine to filter harmful wastes, salt, and excess fluid from the blood. This restores the blood to a normal, healthy balance he added.

GOVERNMENT IS SENSITIVE TOWARD THE BETTERMENT OF SPECIAL CHILDREN-HEALTH MINISTER

Panaji: July 16,2014The Health Minister Shri  Laxmikant Parsekar  has said that the faculty of D. Ed introduced by the Government for special children studying in Sanjay School  is a step towards the up gradation of education of Special Children and further mentioned that the Govt. will strive to start  graduate courses  in the future.

          Shri Parsekar was speaking as chief guest after inaugurating new course for special students Diploma in Special Education for Mental Retardation at Sanjay Center at Porvorim today.

Speaking further Shri Parsekar said Government is sensitive towards the special children and has been making all efforts for the betterment of this important segment. He said of the various courses in paramedics, two would be useful for the treatment of special children. He also said that we have to make utmost efforts to make the special children able and self reliant to live a dignified life and bring them   in the main stream of the society.  

Shri Anil Powar Director of Education stressed the need for participation of community in the development of special children. Considering that society being the stakeholder of the welfare and development of special children it is necessary to overcome all the shortcomings   that come in   their way. Special people are part of society and we should look at them with love and sympathy he   added.

Shri J.R. Rebello Chairman, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education while speaking highlighted upon the fact that every individual is counted in the process of development. Therefore the society cannot give up its responsibility towards special people. Society has to strive for the welfare and has to work to make them able citizen to live better life. He lauded the association of Sanjay school with Goa Board and congratulated the faculty members for their commitment towards special people..He also thanked the Health Minister and the Government for providing Paramedical Services to Sanjay Center.
