STATE LEVEL DEKHAVA COMPETITION RESULT

Panaji: September 6, 2017 … Directorate of Art and Culture has declared the result of State Level Dekhava Competition which was organised on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi Festival with an objective to preserve and promote the age old tradition of presentation of scenes on historical and mythological stories.

This year overall 25 Ganesh Mandals from all over Goa had participated in the Dekhava competition. 1st prize is of Rs. 25,000/- is won by Brameshwar Yuvak Sangh, Akhada, St. Estevam, 2nd prize is of Rs. 20,000/- won by Kala Yuwak Sangh (Juvecha Raja), Juvem, St. Estev Marcel, 3rd prize is of Rs. 15,000/- won by to Kshatriya Maratha Samaj, Rambhuvan Wada, Khumbarjua. The consolation prize winners of Rs. 7,000 are Kunkalikar Bal Kala Mandal, Hauso Wada, Madkai, Mahaganpati Sausthan, Ganesh Hill, Mahalwada, Madkai, Shantadurga Kala Krida Sangh, Dempo Odyseey, Non – Mon, Vasco, Yuva, Mala, Panaji and Shree Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Samittee, Tudav, Netravali, Sanguem etc.

Shri. Nagesh Sardessai, Shri. Hitesh Pankar and Shri. Vitesh Naik judged the Dekhava competition. The Winners of the Dekhava Competition will be awarded certificates and prizes at special function to be organized by Directorate of Art and Culture informed winners will be well in advance.

Shri Anupam Kher appointed as Chairman, FTII Pune

New Delhi, October 11, 2017 … Shri Anupam Kher, veteran cine star, has been appointed as Chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.  Shri Kher succeeds Shri Gajendra Chauhan.

Shri Kher who has appeared in over 500 films is a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts. The veteran star has won many national and international awards including the ‘Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role’ five times. He has appeared in acclaimed international films such as the 2002 Golden Globe nominated Bend It Like Beckham, 2007 Golden Lion award-winning Lust, Caution and 2013 Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook. He has appeared in more than 100 plays and has also authored the book ‘The Best Thing about You Is You’.

Earlier he served as the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and was the Director of National School of Drama from 2001 to 2004. He is also an alumnus of National School of Drama (1978 batch).n

            FTII is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and is regarded as a center of excellence across the world. Films made by FTII’s students have enjoyed excellent receptions in festivals in India and abroad and have won National and International awards.

DISTRICT LEVEL SWACHH SURVEKSHAN GRAMEEN

Panaji, August  8, 2018 …. The Ministry of Drinking water and Sanitation, Government of India has commissioned Swachh Survekshan Grameen, 2018 to provide National ranking to all District of India on basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation (Swachhata) Parameters.

The District Level  Swachh Survekshan Grameen, 2018 will be launched by Dr.Tariq Thomas IAS, Collector, South Goa in the presence of Shri Ajit Panchwadkar, Director of Panchayat on August 10, 2018 at 11.30 a.m at Mathany Saldanha Administrative Complex,  Margao.

The members of South Goa Zilla Panchayat, Sarpanch and elected representatives of Village Panchayat alongwith Self Help Groups etc., will be attending the District level launch of Swachh Survekshan Grameen, 2018.

The said Swachh Survekshan Grameen will be conducted in seven villages in each District in Goa. During the survey the emphasizes will be laid on the conditions of old toilets, Government Primary School, Aganwadi Centre, Primary Health Centre, Panchayat Bhavan, weekly market, religious places, solid waste management etc.

The independent agency hired by the Ministry, has started the survey of visiting villages and public places and obtain citizens feedback from August 1, 2018 and which will be continued till August 31, 2018.

The top performing State and District will be selected based on the parameters prescribed by the Ministry and accordingly awards will be given on October 2, 2018 at Delhi.  

STREET VENDORS PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN SOCIETY

Panaji: August 31, 2016  … The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) recently organized a one day workshop for all municipal councils in state with the help of experts from the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (RCUES), Hyderabad  

The Mission Director for the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) Mr. Elvis Gomes who is also the Director of Urban Development Department and Member Secretary, GSUDA in his inaugural address said that Street Vendors play an important role in society and that despite the Supreme Court directions and the mandate in the Street vendors Act 2014, municipalities had failed to address the problem of the street vendors  and it was time to organize the street vendors as stipulated in the Act, offer them the protection and include them in the process of development. He recalled that after the High court order in 1997, large number of street vendors were displaced and councils had failed to rehabilitate them despite the assurance given in the High Court. He further stated that it was high time that we make best use of the provisions contained in the Act to give a sense of security to vendors and organize them in specially designated vending zones.

          The Research Officers from RCUES Mr. Rama Rao and Mr. Ernest Leslie guided the participants in the preparation of city Street Vendors Plan, GIS Mapping, street vendors survey, profiling,  making identity cards and the financial incentives available under NULM. They also showed that properly organized street vendors are an asset to the society and if given an opportunity, they can rise above their poverty status. Mrs. Celsa Antao, Coordinator, NULM proposed the vote of thanks.

CM EXHORTS STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE GOALS IN LIFE

Panaji: Sept. 7, 2017 … The Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar has exhorted the students to strive hard to achieve their goals and to complete their course  training to come out as skilled and successful   person in the society.

Shri Parrikar was speaking as Chief Guest at the induction programme organized by Panaji Government ITI in collaboration with Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at Altinho Panaji today.  

 Shri Parrikar further said that ITI offers various basic courses and imparts training like electrician, plumber, AC mechanic, fitter, diesel mechanic welders, in food production, hospitality, which have vast demand. These are the best courses and anybody wants to start his business venture can avail scheme of EDC and can become successful he added.  

Shri Aleixo F. Da Costa Director of the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in his address congratulated the students for their decision  for securing admission for skill  development in ITI. He said ITI is a institution where training in various trades is imparted to produce skilled trainees.

Smt. Vidya  Gawas Ex-Trainee and Sous Chef shared her experience as a ITI students and how her course in food production led her in achieving  job  of  a Sous Chef in leading hotel in the state.

CM TELLS CITIZENS TO KEEP SURROUNDINGS CLEAN

Panaji: September 7, 2017 …  “The problem of garbage is not of one person alone or of the government. It is the problem of all Goans,” said Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar. He was speaking at the launch of the ‘Services of Regular Cleaning of Road Stretch from Miramar circle to Dona Paula circle’ under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of CAM Industrial Services LLP at Miramar today. 

Adding further, the Chief Minister said that the cooperation of citizens in keeping the surroundings clean was necessary. He lauded the corporate initiative of including cleaning of roads as part of the CSR activities and said that such models can be carried out on other roads as well.

Chairperson of Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Shri Sidharth Kuncalienker who was present on the occasion stressed on the significance of the Miramar-Dona Paula road calling it a key link road of the city which had a very good view of the sea. “It is a place frequented by those who go on walks and jogs. There are schools and institutions located here as well. He further appealed to the people to make a cleanliness a habit.

The Managing Director, CAM Industrial Services, LLP, Shri Caitano J Fernandes thanked the authorities for giving them the opportunity to contribute to the city.

DDSSY SCHEME LAUNCHED

Panaji: Sept. 1, 2016 …. Maintaining that the State Government is committed to provide better health facilities to the people of Goa, the Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant  Parsekar said and added that an amount of Rs. 4500 crores will be spent to construct Superspeciality hospitals in the State. The Government, he said has already initiated efforts to ensure that the benefit of health care facilities are availed by rural populace on par with urban population.

The Chief Minister was speaking after launching the unique Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY), a scheme to provide universal Health cover through Insurance for the entire resident population of Goa in the distinguished presence of Dy. Chief Minister Shri Francis D’ Souza, MLA and Chairman EDC, Shri Siddharth Kuncolienkar, Shri Sudhir Mahajan, IAS, Secretary, Health, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Dr. Sanjiv  Dalvi, Director Health Services, Dr. Pradeep Naik, Dean GMC at function held at Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji, today.

The Chief Minister said DDSSY would cover entire resident population of the State, residing Goa for five years and more. He said benefits under this Scheme are provided on a cashless basis to the beneficiaries upto the limit of their annual coverage i.e. cover upto Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum for a family of three or less members. Cover upto Rs. 4 lakhs for a family of four and more members. The Insurance benefits can be availed individually or collectively by members of the family besides these, facilities will be available at the doorsteps in rural areas with the nearest private hospital and people may not travel long distances. The Specialized services not available in Government hospital can be availed from private hospital wherever available in Goa or outside the State, he added.

The Chief Minister who presented consent letters to 19 private hospitals empanelled under scheme on the occasion for the welfare of the people of the State and said that this was the endeavour of Government and the launching of DDSSY is decisive step in this direction. Government, he said is spending 100 crores in health sector for providing health infrastructure so that the benefit are derived by the people of Goa. Efforts, he said will be made to see that Goa emerges as a medical hub in the Country.

Dy. Chief Minister Shri Francis D’ Souza in his address said DDSSY was launched on Goa Statehood Day  May 31, 2016  and the benefits of the scheme will be made available to the population of Goa from the September 1, 2016. He said if there are discrepancies in scheme will be modified to make it effectively operative.

The Dy. Chief Minister said the notion of the people is that the private hospitals are providing better treatment facilities as against the Government run hospitals. In this context he said this scheme will give scope for competition as the DDSSY scheme has been made operational by empanelling 19 private hospitals in the State.

The Dy. Chief Minister said the Government has deposited an amount of 14 crores with the Insurance Company for the implementation of the scheme.

GOA STATE CULTURAL AWARDS 2015-16 ANNOUNCED

The Government also honors one Best Cultural Institution, working in the field of Art and Culture every year for the year 2015-16. The Best Cultural Institution award will be conferred on Rudreshwar, Panaji-Goa . The award consists of a Memento and Cash prize of Rs.3.00 Lakh.

The Goa State Cultural Awards for Individuals and Best Cultural Institution will be presented to the awardees at a special function to be organized by the department. The date of the function will be declared by the department Shortly.
