GOA STATE CULTURAL AWARDS 2015-16 ANNOUNCED
Panaji: August 24, 2016 …. The Directorate of Art and Culture has announced the Goa State Cultural Awards 2015-16 for 12 personalities from the field of Art and Culture for their contribution and achievements in their respective fields like Music, Drama, Tiatr, Folk Art, Bhajan, Kirtan, Craft, Literature and Painting.
The recipients of awards for the year 2015-16 are: Shri Chedo Subha Parwar Priol, Ponda and Shri Anil Ganesh Kondurkar Mormugao for Indian Music, Shri Jerome Rodrigues, Cuncolim, Salcete for Western Music, Shri Arun Ramchandra Sakhardande, Mapusa, Bardez and Smt. Leena Satish Pednekar, Cumbarjua, Tiswadi for Literature, Shri. Pradeep Chandrakant Vernekar, Panaji, Tiswadi, Shri Pralhad Babai Hadfadkar, Aldona, Bardez, Shri Theodore Alvares, Saligao, Bardez, and Shri. Jose Xavier Gomes, Cumbarjua, Tiswadi for Theatre, Tiatr, Shri Balaji Raghuvir Kamat, St.Cruz, Tiswadi for Bhajan, Shri Mahendra Tulshidas Gaonkar, Cumbarjua, Tiswadi for Folk Art and Shri Mohan Ganesh Mayekar, Mormugao for Fine Art.
The Awards comprises of a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- each, a certificate, shrifal, Nataraj Replica and shawl.
The Government also honors one Best Cultural Institution, working in the field of Art and Culture every year for the year 2015-16. The Best Cultural Institution award will be conferred on Rudreshwar, Panaji-Goa . The award consists of a Memento and Cash prize of Rs.3.00 Lakh.
The Goa State Cultural Awards for Individuals and Best Cultural Institution will be presented to the awardees at a special function to be organized by the department. The date of the function will be declared by the department Shortly.
CM RELEASES BOOK ON 50 YEARS OF PANCHAYATI RAJ IN GOA
Panaji: August 23, 2016 ….. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar released the book tittled “50 Years of Panchayati Raj in Goa: Retrospect and Prospects” at function held at Goa University recently.
Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor of Goa University
presided over the function.
Addressing the students and faculties the Chief Minister said each village has its own set of issues, which only the locals can understand. Members of a, Panchayat are more seized with the problems of the villagers, thus they are more capable of taking appropriate decisions in the interest of the people of their village.
Speaking further Chief Minister said the book has been published by doing detailed study incorporating all 17 papers depicting the functioning of Panchayati Raj in the state. He said Political Science students should study such issues to bring detail information about such subject and enlighten to society.
Adv. Amrut Kansar gave the key note address. Earlier Dr. Rahul Tripathi, Head of Political Department welcomed the guests. Dr. Alaknanda Shringare spoke about the contents of the book.

Panaji: Aug. 23,2016 … The Governor of Goa Dr. (Smt) Mridula Sinha has exhorted the youth to work to imbibe in our youth the culture of cleanliness. The Swacch Bharat Campaign which was launched couple of years ago requires participation of every citizen to make it a reality and further appealed to shoulder this noble task.
Smt. Sinha stated this while delivering keynote address at the function organized to sensitize the students and faculty of The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition about Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, and release of second edition of Hindi magazine ‘AAROH’ at Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition at Alto Porvorim yesterday.
Smt Sinha further said that cleanliness should be the part of our life rituals and we should enjoy doing it like we do other things in our life. Cleanliness she said is important for healthy living, therefore one should not litter and should not allow others to litter garbage.

Union Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Union Minister of State for AYUSH along with Member of Parliament Shri Narendra Sawaikar and MLA Shri Siddharth Kunkolienkar today reviewed preparations for the BRICS summit at a meeting at Ministerial Block, Porvorim. Shri Amar Sinha Former Ambassador of India in Kabul and presently Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India also attended the meeting.
The Heads of the Departments and officers of all concerned departments of State Government and central Government were impressed upon to play their part well and leave no stone unturned. The matters relating to roads, electricity, cleanliness, security and others related areas were discussed at the meeting.
