APPLICATION INVITED FOR ADMISSIONS IN RASHTRIYA INDIAN MILITARY COLLEGE

Panaji: July 18, 2015 … The Rashtriya Indian Military College an Inter-Services Institution and a Category ‘A` establishment of the Ministry of Defence has invited applications from boys to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun (UK) for the July 2016 Term.

The entrance test for the same will be conducted at selected centres on December 1 and 2, 2015.

Candidates appearing for the above test should not be less than 11½ years in age and should not have attained the age of 13 years as on Jul 01, 2016, i.e., they should have been born not earlier than July 02 2003 and not later than January 01, 2005.

The candidates either should be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII from any recognized school at the time of admission to the RIMC, i.e. on July 01, 2016.

The examination will comprise of written exam consisting of three papers, namely, English (1000-1200hrs) and Mathematics (1400-1530hrs) which shall be conducted on December 01, 2015 and General Knowledge paper (1000-1100hrs) on December 02, 2015. The Minimum pass marks in each paper is 50%.

The oral interview will be held on April 05, 2016 for only those candidates who qualify in the written exam. The date, venue for interview will be intimated to them by respective State early by March 2016. Intelligence and personality of the candidates will be tested in the interview.

The candidates finally selected after the Viva-voce will undergo a medical examination at selected Military Hospitals and only those candidates found medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. The medical examination of the candidates forms only a part of the system of selection and does not imply the final selection.

The examination centre are generally located in the state capital or in cities/towns as advertised.

The fees at RIMC are heavily subsidized by the Central Government and is presently Rs.42, 400/- per year. It may increase from time to time. At the time of entry a Security Deposit of Rs. 20,000/- is to be made which is refunded when the candidate passes out.

Scholarships are granted by various state Governments to meritorious students. The amount of scholarships varies from state to state and is in between Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 20,000/- per annum. Continuation of Scholarship once granted by the state is subject to merit, income and discipline of the cadet and his performance during the year.

The prospects-cum-application form and booklet of old question papers can be obtained by registered post/speed post by sending a written request with an account payee bank demand draft of Rs.430/- (for Registered post) or Rs.480/- (for Speed post) for General Candidates and Rs.385/- (for Registered post) or Rs.435/- (for Speed Post) for SC/ST candidates. The demand draft should be in favour of THE COMMANDANT RIMC DEHRADUN, DRAWEE BRANCH, STATE BANK OF INDIA, TEL BHAWAN, DEHRADUN, (BANK CODE-01576), UTTARAKHAND.

The address should be typed/written clearly in capital letters with pin code and contact number. RIMC will NOT be responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit of prospectus caused by illegible or incomplete address.

The application in duplicate on prescribed form accompanied by documents such as two passport size photographs, Domicile Certificate, Birth Certificate (issued by Municipal Corporation/Gram Panchayat, SC, ST Certificate and certificate from principal of the School in original with photograph on it attested stating date of Birth and in which Class studying should be attached with application form. The application form should reach the respective Government of which their parents/guardians are domicile of, by September 30, 2015.

The wards of service personnel, Para Military Personnel and other Central Govt. employees with transferable job may submit the application form in the State of domicile or the States where they are posted. However, in order to verify the antecedents of such candidates, the State (where such candidates intend taking the written test) are free to ask for service certificates over and above the routine documentation. The States where the candidates appear must also satisfy themselves with respect to place of duty of the parent/guardian. Other than the above, states are to ensure that no other candidate must be allowed to appear for the written examination in a state other than which the candidate is domicile of.

The application forms must be sent to the Asstt. Director of Education, (Adm.III), Directorate of Education, Alto Porvorim, Bardez–Goa and not to the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

MOEF & CC NOTIFIES SIX ECO SENSITIVE ZONES

Panaji: July 18, 2015 …. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, New Delhi has notified six Eco-Sensitive Zones (ESZs) around the Wildlife Protected Areas like Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary and Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary in Goa.

The Committee consisting of representatives of the State Departments for preparing the Zonal Master Plan falling in the concerned District has been constituted.

For North Goa District Chief Town Planner is the chairman and members are Dy. Conservator of Forests (WL&ET)(N), Additional Collector North, Director of Mines, Director of Tourism, Director of Environment and Shri Milind Y. Gadgil (SESZMC Member).

For South Goa District Chief Town Planner is the chairman and members are Dy. Conservator of Forests (WL&ET)(S), Additional Collector South, Director of Mines, Director of Tourism, Director of Environment and Shri Sandeep V.K. Azrencar (SESZMC Member).

The Committee will submit the Zonal Master Plans within one year.

CM GREETS PEOPLE ON EID-UL-FITR

panaji:July 18, 2015 … Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar has extended his greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

GOVERNOR GREETS PEOPLE OF GOA ON ID-UL-FITR

Panaji: July 18, 2015 … The Governor of Goa, Mrs. Mridula Sinha on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Fitr has extended greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa, and the Muslim community, in particular.

In her message the Governor has said, Prophet Mohammed gifted us with his invaluable and eternal message of love, compassion and tolerance, which has greatest relevance today, when the world is afflicted with problems of religious fundamentalism, hatred, violence and conflicts.

In a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-lingual country like ours, it is essential for all of us to promote and maintain inter-religious understanding and co-existence among the different sections of society. Let us, therefore, on this auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Fitr, draw inspiration from the eternal message of the Prophet, and practice it in the best interest of social harmony, national unity and integrity.

The Governor further has said, Goa is traditionally a peaceful State, where people of different faiths live in harmony and mutual understanding. It is the duty of all the citizens to maintain this tradition in the interest of one and all, she added.

QUIZ COMPETITION ON JULY 21

Panaji: July 17, 2015 …. The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) has organized ‘All Goa Municipal Area Inter-School, Inter-College and Inter-Municipal Council Quiz Competition’ on July 21, 2015 on the theme ‘Swachh Bharat’, under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

The Inter-School Quiz Competition will begin at 9.30 a.m., the Inter-College Quiz Competition will begin at 2.30 p.m. and the Inter- Municipal Council Quiz Competition will begin at 4.30 p.m.

A key strategy under SBM (Urban) is behavior change communication to ensure that sanitation as an issue is mainstreamed with the general public at large and should cover issues of open defecation, prevention of manual scavenging, hygiene practices, proper use and maintenance of toilet facilities (household, community or otherwise), etc., and its related Health and Environmental consequences.

ENFORCEMENT SQUADS FOR SOUTH GOA UNDER COTPA RECONSTITUTED

Panaji: July 17, 2015 …. The Enforcement Squads for Dharbandora, Mormugao, Salcete, Quepem and Canacona talukas has been re-constituted for enforcing the effective implementation of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (COPTA) Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution Act , 2003 in South Goa District.

The order has been issued by office of District Magistrate, South Goa recently.

The Officers appointed for Sanvordem, Mormugao, Vasco, Dabolim, Cortalim, Nuvem, Curtorim, Fatorda, Margao, Benaulim, Navelim, Cuncolim, Velim, Quepem, Curchorem, and Canacona. Jurisdiction includes Mamlatdar and Executive of Magistrate, Joint Mamlatdar and Executive Magistrate I and II, PSI attached to concerned areas of Police Stations, Sanitary Inspector of Health Centres and member of NGO (GOA CAN) are the members of the Committee.

6 MONTHS COURSE AS MULTI SKILLED OPERATOR

WORKSHOP ON NAMAN AND JATI

Panaji: July, 2015 … The Directorate of Art and Culture , Government of Goa will organize a Naman and Jati singing of Rhyme’s workshop from August 3 to 6, 2015 from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Multipurpose Hall , Sanakruti Bhavan , Patto, Panaji.

Shri Dhakto Gaude, a well-known expert in this field will impart the training in the form as a resource person of the workshop. He has rendered his expertise of Naman and Jati to all parts of the State. He is also a good dhol, tasha player and has also acted in various dramas.

The Department requests all the upcoming youths in this field, music institutions and general public who are performing artists or studying in the field of music to submit their application forms to participate in this Naman and Jati workshop.

The participants will be selected based on the experience and knowledge in the field.
Only 30 entries will be considered for the participation in the workshop. An amount of Rs. 200/- has to be paid towards entry fees for the workshop.

BIHAR UNIVERSITY CONFERS HONY D. LITT ON THE GOVERNOR OF GOA

Panaji: July, 2015 … The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzafarpur conferred Hony. D. Litt. on Smt Mridula Sinha, Governor of Goa, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the field of literature.

The D. Litt. Degree was conferred on her by the Governor of Bihar, Shri Kesari Nath Tripathi, at the Convocation function of the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzafarpur.

Smt. Mridula Sinha, Governor, a Post-Graduate in Psychology from the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzafarpur of 1964, worked as Lecturer in the Dr. S.K. Sinha Women’s College, Motihari, Bihar affiliated to the above University. She began her literary work in 1977, including short stories, novels and articles on various social issues and gave valuable ideas and suggestions to resolve them. Notably, 21 students have so far acquired Doctorates on researches done on her writings /literature, which have become part of the studies in various educational institutions.

BOATS OWNERS TOLD TO COVER THEIR BOATS IN MONSOON

Panaji: July, 2015 …. Captain of Ports Department has requested the Boat Owners in the vicinity of Dona Paula Jetty, Hawai Beach and Aivao to cover their boats properly and see that no stagnation of water in the boats.

It has been brought to the notice of Department that the most of the boats are left uncovered thereby collecting rain water in these boats during the monsoon season, which cause nuisance under section 37 of Goa Public Health Act, and leading to potential source of mosquito breeding and public nuisance and impending source of Health hazards.

The owners/ masters of the barges, shipyards/dry docks, passenger launches, ferry boats, tindels of fishing trawlers and operators of the mechanized and non mechanized craft including the tourist boats etc. plying in the Inland water of Goa are directed to ensure that all the boats are properly covered.
