GOA STATE HORTICULTURE CORPORATION FELICITATES FARMERS

Dated: August 11, 2014 … The Goa State Horticulture Corporation Ltd. organized taluka level local Vegetable producer’s Award Day and launched Local Vegetable Production Campaign 2014-15 at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji on Saturday.

Shri Vishnu Surya Wagh, MLA, Shri Kiran Kandolkar, MLA and Chairman of Goa State Horticulture Corporation Ltd, Shri Rajan Naik, MLA, Shri Orlando Rodrigues Director of Agriculture Department were present on the occasion.

Shri Subhash Naik, Shri Demu Gaonkar, Shri Vithoba Ghadi, Shri Subhash Malik, Shri Borges, Shri Santosh Gaonkar, Shri Mohan Gaonkar and Arun Bhandare member from Board of Directors graced the occasion.

Various awards and individual prizes were given to the farmers on the occasion at the hands of dignitaries.

Zonal Agriculture Office,  Bardez taluka, Aldona Panchayat, Gaodongri Farmers Society, Cancona and Miracle High School from Sanguem were given Awards for their farming efforts in their respective areas.

In individual category a successful Farmers from different talukas were felicitated at the hands of Chief Guest. Pernem taluka – Shri Sakharam Kalangutkar, Shri Subhash Parab and Namdev Malik. Addressing the Farmers meet the Chief Guest Shri Wagh Said, the scheme of the Goa State Horticulture Development Corporation (GSHDC) which is meant to develop infrastructure for vegetable and flower cultivation in Goa has boosted vegetable farming in the state of Goa in a big way.  He complimented the work of Horticulture Corporation and appealed to the farmers to take advantage of various schemes offered by the state Government in the field of Agriculture.

Shri Kiran Kandolkar who spoke on the occasion, said that the State Government is offering various facilities and incentives to the farmers to boost farming yield. He said, this includes distribution of various varieties of seeds and fertilizers free of cost and subsidy is also being extended to them.

More than 2000 complaints/cases of child rights violation registered by NCPCR in last 3 years & current year

11/08/2014 …. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has reported that it has registered 2333 complaints of child abuse/violation of child rights during the last 3 years and the current year. A total of 934 complaints/cases concerning abuse/violation of child rights were registered in NCPCR in the year 2013-14. The highest number of registered cases i.e., 532 are from the State of Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, in 2012-13, 766 cases were registered in NCPCR from across the country out of which 362 were from Uttar Pradesh. In 2011-12, 455 such cases were registered. In the current year, till date 178 such complaints have been received from all over the country. 

The Act and Central Model Rules framed under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000, provide for monitoring, inspection, standards of care and measures that may be taken by the State Government/UT Administration to address any reported instance of ill treatment of children in orphanages etc. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has been urging the State Governments/UT Administrations from time to time to identify and register all child care institutions, so as to ensure that standards of care can be monitored. In response to complaints received at national level, NCPCR makes recommendations to the State Governments/UT Administrations for taking appropriate action. 

This information was given by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Union Minister of Women and Child Development in reply to a starred question in Lok Sabha recently. 

CM TO UNVEIL LATE SHRI D. B. BANDODKAR STATUE

Panaji, August 11, 2014 … Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar will unveil the Statue of Late Shri D. B. Bandodkar, the first Chief Minister of Goa, Daman and Diu at Secretariat Complex, Porvorim, at 9:30 am on August 12, 2014.

The statue of Late Bandodakar will be unveiled on the occasion  of Death Anniversary of late Shri D.B. Bandodkar which will be observed on Tuesday August 12, 2014.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar alongwith Cabinet Ministers will place garlands/flowers on the Samadhi of late  Shri D.B. Bandodkar  and pay their homage at Miramar at 8:30 a.m.  followed by garlanding of the statue of late Shri D.B. Bandodkar at Old Secretariat, Panaji at 9:00 a.m.

VALPOI PS: Shri Vilas Pandurang Patil Manager of Sai Sagar Industries-Honda-Sattari complained that on 10.08.2014 prior to 07.30 hrs. accused Kasturi w/o Laxman Rathod n/o Hubli-Karnataka with her two minor children entered into above industries shed by removing window rods and committed theft of machine parts W/rs.2,000/- & thereafter he caught her red handed when she again came to steal steel items. BICHOLIM PS: Shri Pandurang Vithu Palkar r/o Mulgao-Bicholim complained that on 09.08.2014 at 21.35 hrs, some unknown accused  person riding unknown M/Cycle while proceeding from Bicholim to Mulgao and when reached near Laxmi Leela hall-Valshi dashed him from the back side causing injuries  to him, further accused rider fled away from the spot. VERNA PS: Complaint upon behalf of the state that on 10.08.2014 at 09.40 hrs, at Bethoda Classic Bldg.-Cortalim, accused Survesh s/o Anand Shirodkar r/o Shiroda-Ponda riding his Aviator Scooter No.GA-08-Y-3618, rode the same in rash and negligent manner, while proceeding from Shiroda to Curtalim and when reached near Bethoda Classic Bldg.-Cortalim in process of overtaking a truck he saw one Wagon R car in opposite direction, lost his control over his scooter and fell on the road along with scooter, as a result  sustained grievous injuries to the pillion rider of the said scooter namely Shauban @ Anandi w/o Anand Shirodkar age-47 yrs r/o Bhatwda-Shiroda, who later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing medical treatment at Hospicio Hospital Margao. RATION QUOTA FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2014

Panaji ; 11, 2014 … 1400 Grams of Sugar per person will be distributed during the month of August, 2014 to the families of below Poverty Line, Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Annapurna at a price of Rs.13.50 per kg.This includes festival allocation also.

The Fair Price Shop Owners are directed to start lifting the stock of the Sugar immediately and supply the quota of August 2014 to the cardholders immediately. They are also requested to display the sample of the quality of Commodity supplied to the cardholders. The entire quota to the BPL, AAY, and ANP cardholders should be made immediately and the entire quota should be lifted before August 20, 2014.

Respective cardholders are hereby requested to draw their monthly ration quota from their respective Fair Price Shop on or before August 30, 2014 as per their entitlement and sign the register maintained at Fair Price Shop in token of having lifted their quota.

Complaints, if any, in case of non- supply of PDS commodities and the quantity and quality supplied by the Fair Price Shop is not found satisfactory be made to the office of the respective Joint Mamlatdar –I or Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Panaji – Goa.

 Pursuant to the above complaint, ACB/Vigilance P.S. registered Crime No. 14/2014 dated 08/08/2014 against accused No.1 Shri. Kamalakar Halarnkar, Chief Officer, PMC, Pernem, Public Servant in exercise of his official function on 15/03/2013 afternoon demanded and accepted gratification of Rs. 700/- from Shri. Mahesh Pednekar r/o Malpe Pernem for doing official act of issuing NOC to start his business of Photo Studio on 1st floor of Shivanand Complex Building at Pernem and accused No.2 Shri. Madan Shenvi Desai, Upper Division Clerk of Pernem Municipal Council, Pernem, also Public Servant in exercise of his official function abetted for conveying the demand of illegal gratification on behalf of accused No. 1 for doing the same official act with respect to issue of NOC to Shri. Mahesh Pednekar.

India Offers Training to Czech Scientists

10/08/2014 …. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, MoS in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Space & Atomic Energy, Dr Jitendra Singh stated here today to the Ambassador of Czech Republic, Mr. Miloslav Stasek that India will offer training to Czech scientists.

 Dr Jitendra Singh said that though a small country, Czechoslovakia has assumed importance in the international domain, particularly in the area of automobile technology by the sheer dent of hard work and determination.

 The Czech Ambassador informed the Minister that in the month of October, a group of scholars from various Czech universities will be coming to India for interaction with Indian scholars in the union capital as well as other major cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bhubaneshwar. He requested Dr Jitendra Singh to spare some time for appointment with these visiting scholars and also offered courses like Ph.D and automobile training for students from India. 

Giving his consent for a meeting with the Czech scholars, Dr Jitendra Singh said that right from ancient times, India has been a favourite destination for scholars, researchers and explorers from other continents and in the present context, India also offers exclusive opportunities for affordable innovation which could help in supplementing knowledge based economy in a global world.

Dr Jitendra Singh also disclosed that the Indian Embassy in Pregue has been asked to get in touch with the Czech Government and expedite the proposals related to Science & Technology. He also emphasized the need to be flexible in implementing bilateral programmes in order to accommodate the constraints and diversities of the two countries.

More than five hundred villagers from calangute constituency on Friday met chief minister and informed about their grievances faced by them due to the illegal touts carrying out various illegalities in calangute area

In their memorandum the villagers informed about the increase numbers of tourist guides who were harassing tourist by openly touting them as weather the concerned tourist wanted room with young girls for sex, massage and drugs thereby taking the unauthorized tourist guide taking the tourist to remote areas and looting them ….

Increased numbers of unauthorized dubious massage palour , dance bars located near residential areas and the schools thereby affecting the young school students

Increased number of drug paddlers in the name of chaiwallas panwallas lungiwalls openly operating on the beach, bus stands and school surroundings

The memorandum also stated that the police had laso conveyed to the villagers that the situation weas out of their control because there were more than 200 touts presently and in off season and there number had increased to more than 500 during season time due to which it was not possible for the police to stop these illegal activites in total

The village alleged that they had witnessed such immoral trafficiking and drug business being carried out in connivance with police and therefore sex and drugs grangs were freely operating in the area

The villagers alleged that they had notice one person who was a a resident of bastora village leading this immoral trafficking gang and taking this customers to mapusa morod where he was operating a illegal massage parlour

And therefore as this situation is worsening day by day there is likely hood of the local villagers might be taking law in to their own hands ….

What was more surprising was that a local calangute village which explaining the difficulties faced by them in calangute areas asked chief minister to wear a beard and three forth pant dressed up liked a tourist and see in his own eyes the way the touts were trying various tactics to promote illegalities in calangute area

Points such as st Anthony chapel, kfc circle, calangute beach, bandodkar statue, calangute beach parking place were the prone zones for illegal activities to take place in calangute area said the villagers to chief minister Parrikar who later assured the crowd of taking strict action in to the matter

TOGETHER LETS WIPE OUT HIV/AIDS: PARRIKAR

August 8, 2014 …. Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar has exhorted the people of the State not to be a part of regressive society and urged them to join hands together to wipe out the dreaded killerHIV/AIDS, especially the stigma attached to the epidemic.

 Shri Parrikar was speaking at the Legislative Forum on HIV/AIDS organized by Goa State AIDS Control Society and Goa Legislative Assembly with the support of AIDS Control at Assembly Complex, Porvorim, today.

 Shri Parrikar citing the example of the recent incident at Rivona mentioned that common sense needs to be used to come out of the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS. Stressing the need to know why, how and through what it can or cannot be contradicted.  We need to be vigilant and arrest the spread of this disease which is spreading mostly due to ignorance, he added

 He further informed that Ebola is at the forefront of the major disease affecting the globe at present. Ebola is a disease in which the red cells busts internally taking human life instantly, he added.

 Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Shri Rajendra Arlekar speaking on the occasion underscored the need to change our thinking and have one’s own self control. He said, self control can do away with such illness while our positive thinking can bring a total change towards the affected people and show the way to others while pointing out that the problem lies with not the people who are infected but with people who are not infected with the disease.

 Health Minister, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar said it is the State dream to have zero new infections within 4-5 years time.  Goa being a literate state and the annual infective detentions being reduced every year can definitely be brought down, he remarked.

 Complimenting the GSACS for the wonderful job, the Health Minister said Goa has a total of 15484 people inflicted with HIV/AIDS infections has been having a reduction in fresh detention at 523 people from 1100 person every year since 2009-13.

 He stressed the need to create awareness among the Panchayat/School and rural areas.  The stigma/discrimination attached to such epidemic needs to go and we can do it in our own way by playing a small role of social responsibility, he said.

 Principal Secretary(Health), Shri Parimal Rai in his welcome and inaugural address gave the statistics of HIV/AIDS cases prevalent in all parts of Goa  Salcete(18.4%) Mormugao(12.8%) Tiswadi(11.5%) and Bardez(14.5%) highlighted the very basic step of delaying the inevitable, i.e prevention and then prolong our life through intervention  once infected. 

 Shri Rai called upon the people to play a role in prevention of HIV by sharing information and providing our support to people living with HIV/AIDS.

 It was also felt that it helps to advocate for development of new schemes and amendment of existing policies/schemes to make them HIV sensitive apart from as opinion builders, raise HIV/AIDS related issues at public forum, in the meetings of various Districts/State/National committees of which they are members.

 Later, Dr. Madhu Sharma, Project Director gave a brief presentation on the various aspects, objectives and the role Legislative Members can play in removing the myths and misconceptions in the minds of the public about HIV/AIDS  the life threatening disease.

MARGAO TOWN PS: Victim lady complained that 03 year back (exact date & time not known) accused person namely Deepak Gopinath Dhuri, her neighbour brought her to Margao in his Omni Van by telling that her father is sick and further took her in hotel room at Colva road and showed her photographs on his mobile and further put her under threat of circulating said photographs to public & had forcible sexual abused her.
