Goan Reporter;Goa Accelerates Wellness Push with Countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026 at Miramar Beach
Panaji, 8 April 2026::The Government of Goa, through Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya and Research Centre (GAMRC), conducted the “Countdown Programme to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026” at Miramar Beach, Panaji. The initiative was organised in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, as part of the nationwide campaign “100 Days, 100 Cities, 100 Organisations.”
Held in the early hours of the morning from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from students, healthcare professionals and members of the public. The activities began with the Common Yoga Protocol, followed by awareness sessions and cultural segments, including Natya Yoga and classical dance, highlighting the importance of yoga in maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sneha Bhagwat said, “In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, our eating habits have undergone significant changes. In this context, yoga proves to be extremely beneficial in maintaining overall health balance.”
The initiative reflects the Government’s continued emphasis on preventive healthcare, wellness and healthy lifestyles. Goa, with its natural and cultural strengths, is steadily emerging as a hub for health and wellness, with such programmes further strengthening the integration of yoga and traditional systems into everyday life.
The programme was attended by Dr. Sneha Bhagwat, President, Goa Council of Ayurveda and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine; Shri Mohan Joshi, Yoga Session Instructor; and Dr. Mahesh Velekar, AYUSH Medical Officer, along with faculty, staff and students from Goa College of Physiotherapy, Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences and GAMRC, Shiroda.

Panaji, 08 April 2026 :A power shut down has been arranged on April 12, 2026 from 07.00 am to 02.00 pm at All 33KV and 11KV feeders fed by Verna Sub-Station, to carry out urgent maintenance work. Affected areas are whole Mormugao Taluka, Vasco, Cortalim Sancoale, Velsao, Cansaulim, Majorda, Utorda, Betalbatim, Nuvem, Verna, Verna IDC, Nagoa, Pirni, Fatorda and Monte hill-Margao.

Panaji, 07 April 2026 : District Magistrate and District Election Officer, South Goa designated Sector Magistrate and Additional District Magistrate to manage assembly segments and maintains Law and Order during Bye-Election to 21 – Ponda Assembly Constituency to be held on April 09, 2026.
Director, Department of Handicrafts, Textiles and Coir, Shri. Sagun Velip, CEO, Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board, Shri. Johnson Fernandes, are posted as Additional District Magistrate.
Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shri. Kaushik D. Amonkar as Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Zonal Agricultural Officer Shri. Omkar Dessai, Shri. Keshav Gaude , Assistant Engineer,Electricity Department Shri. Sunil Kerkar, Assistant Engineer, Department of Drinking Water, Shri. Subhash Gaude, Executive Engineer, PWD, Shri. Rupesh Kothambikar, Assistant Labour Commissioner as Executive Magistrate.
However, Assistant Engineer, Directorate of Panchayat Shri. Ajit Jog will be Reserve and Additional District Magistrate III, South Goa Shri. Vishal Kundaikar will oversee as Additional District Magistrate in Ponda Taluka.

Goan Reporter:GOVT. PERMITS LOUDSPEAKERS IN NIGHT HOURS ON SPECIAL DAYS
Panaji, 07 April 2026: Department of Environment and Climate Change has permitted use of loudspeakers or public address system during night hours between 10,00 pm to 12,00 midnight during the year 2026 on designated Cultural and Religious occasions such as Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd day of idol immersion & 5th day of idol immersion ) on September 15, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively; Anant Chaturdashi on September 24 , 2026; Navratri (last day of Navratri) on October 20, 2026; Diwali Eve on November 07, 2026; Christmas Eve on December 24, 2026; Christmas on December 25, 2026 and New Year’s Eve from December 26 to 31, December 2026.
The permission shall be granted only on a case-to-case basis in response to a specific application made by the concerned Village Panchayat, Municipal Corporation/Municipal Council or an individual in the State of Goa.
The provisions of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 should be strictly adhere.
The ‘authority’ concerned shall monitor the noise levels during the permitted festive occasion and other occasion also and take prompt remedial action in the event of any violation of the same and of above conditions.
Goan Reporter:GOVT. DOUBLES ALLOCATION OF 5KG LPG CYLINDERS FOR MIGRANT WORKERS
Panaji, 07 April 2026: Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has announced that the daily quantity of 5 Kg FTL Cylinder in each State available for disbursal to migrant labourers is being doubled based on average daily supply of cylinders to migrant laborers during March 2nd – 3rd, 2026 beyond previous limit of 20% . These 5Kg FTL cylinders will be at disposal of State Government or its Food/ Civil Supplies Department for supplying only to migrant labourers in their State with the assistance of OMCs.
