Panaji: March 16, 2026::Death anniversary of late Shri. Manohar Parrikar, Former Defence Minister, Government of India and Former Chief Minister of Goa, will be observed on March 17, 2026 at the Smriti Sthal, Miramar.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with other dignitaries will pay their homage by garlanding the statue followed by laying floral tributes at the Samadhi of late Shri. Manohar Parrikar.

All dignitaries, Secretaries to Government, Head of Department and Government officers/Official will be present on the occasion.

Goan Reporter:SC ORDERS BETTER MENSTRUAL HYGIENE FACILITIES IN SCHOOLS

Panaji: March 16, 2026::        Directorate of Education has informed that the Supreme Court of India has issued the directions to all the Educational Institutions regarding menstrual hygienic facilities in schools.

The every school must have functional, gender-segregated toilets with usable water connectivity. The school toilets shall be equipped with functional hand washing facilities, with soap and water available at all times. Further every school must provide Oxo-Biodegradable sanitary napkins manufactured in compliance with the ASTM D-6954 standards free of cost. Such sanitary napkins shall be made readily accessible to girl students, preferably within the toilet premises through sanitary napkin vending machines or where such installation is not immediately feasible, at a designated place or with a designated authority within the school.

Similarly every school must establish Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) corners. Such MHM corners shall be equipped with, including but not limited to, spare innerwear, spare uniforms, disposable bags and other necessary materials to address menstruation related exigencies and each toilet unit shall be equipped with a covered waste bin for the collection of sanitary material and cleanliness and regular maintenance of such bins shall be ensured at all times.

It is therefore enjoined upon all the School Managements in the State of adhere to the directives of the Supreme Court of India for the health and hygiene of our students.

 

Goan Reporter:GOA TO DEVELOP PACK HOUSE AND AGRI-LOGISTICS FACILITY AT MOPA AIRPORT

Panaji, March 14: The Goa Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Board (GAPLM) and GMR Airport Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Mahalaxmi, Panaji for the development of agricultural export infrastructure at Manohar International Airport. The agreement was formalized in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. The initiative aims to expand market access for Goan farmers and support the export of local produce.

Under the partnership, a modern Pack House and agri-logistics facility will be established at the airport to handle grading, packaging, and export of produce according to the standards of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). The facility will reduce post-harvest losses and create new opportunities for farmers and traders.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “The initiative is a significant step in enhancing Goa’s agricultural export ecosystem. The project will help farmers access wider markets, improve the quality and handling of produce, and strengthen the agricultural value chain under the vision of Swayampurna Goa.”

The ceremony was attended by Chairman, Goa Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Board, Shri Sandeep Faldessai, Administrator GAPLM Board, Shri Gurunath Sagun Naik, Secretary GAPLM Board Shri Kirtiraj K. Naik Gaonkar, and Chairman GMR Airport Limited Mopa, along with other senior officials from the Agriculture Department and allied agencies.

Goan Reporter:OFFICIALS DEPUTED AT THE GAS AGENCIES IN THE STATE

Department of Civil Supplies and Consumers affairs has deputed officials of the Department at the gas agencies in the State in order to ensure strict vigilance over the current situation across the State and in view of the Essential Commodities Act  1955 have been invoked by the Government of India.

Goan Reporter:HOME DEPARTMENT OPENS FINAL JOB REGISTRATION FOR CHILDREN OF FREEDOM FIGHTERS

Panaji: March 13, 2026::The Home Department has announced final opportunity for the children of freedom fighters to register under the scheme for providing employment in Government to the children of Freedom fighters, first introduced in 2013.

 

The Home Department had notified the “Scheme for providing employment in Government to the Children of Freedom Fighters” in the year 2013. Under the said scheme all eligible children of freedom fighters registered with Home department were sponsored for employment in various Government departments.

 

However it has been noticed that some Children of Freedom Fighters (CFF) could not get themselves registered under the scheme in 2013 due to various reasons. As a last time opportunity, Home Department has decided to open a special window for registration of Children of only those Freedom Fighters who are already registered with Home Department.

 

All, such Children of Freedom Fighters are requested to approach Home Department(General), Secretariat, Porvorim alongwith Freedom Fighter Certificate of either Father or Mother, to collect application forms for registration under the scheme from March 17, 2026 to March 31, 2026. Duly filled application form shall be submitted to the Home Department, Secretariat, Porvorim on or before April 06, 2026.

 

Applications received after stipulated date will not be entertained and this may be treated as final opportunity for registration under the Scheme.
